I could see DeRozan asking for Kobe’s autograph…

    • me

whats wrong with that? he’s a kid for fs.

      • Nilanka15

Who said there’s anything wrong with it?

        • p00ka

Since the issue is about a nobody from Tunisia asking for it, your bringing DD into the discussion, as such, would appear to lump DD into the same category. To avoid misunderstandings, perhaps you can give what you feel is a proper interpretation of why you would make the statement you did. ie. wtf is your point, “basketball talk” or otherwise?

          • Nilanka15

I can see CaseyDaMan asking for FAQ’s autograph…

            • p00ka

Figures you’d try and call out one of your mentors to come to your aid.
btw, are you actually still hung up on thinking you’re somehow putting me down with “exposing” a previously used handle? One that’s been publicly acknowledged more than once. That’s fn pathetic.

              • Nilanka15

The world would be a scary place without you self-proclaimed internet cops to protect us.

We are forever grateful for your services.

                • p00ka

lmfao,,,, you beat your detective chest again, to “expose” (LOL) an alias for the umpteenth time, while being totally unresponsive to the post you “replied” to, and your bringing out the “internet cop” line again? Your starting to get as bad as Gots2go with using tired old cut and paste lines that have noting to do with the topic.

                • Nilanka15

I learned a long time ago not to waste my time preparing legit, well thought out response to anything you have to say.  You never admit when you’re wrong, you don’t accept legit arguments that contradict your views, and your condescending tone isn’t exactly inviting to conversation.

Now, if you’d like to continue your hissy fit trying to decipher why I made a comment about DeRozan (in jest), feel free to do so.  Just don’t expect me to give two shits what you have to say….now or in the future.

                  Clear?

                • p00ka

                  I’ll tell you what’s clear.
                  1.  I asked a legit question about what you meant by your insightful basketball post saying you could see DD seeking Kobe’s autograph. You responded with noting related to my invite to clarify, but you responded with a smart ass “internet detective” insight that had nothing to do with the convo.
                  2. I responded with how pathetic that was, and you responded with another unrelated, unresponsive, smart ass response, calling me an “internet cop”, when you’re the one doing the lame internet detective bs to re-direct the convo.
                  3. I responded pointing out my opinion of what YOU were doing, and you re-direct the convo yet again with a hissy fit, with the nerve to call mine one. fn funny.
                  4. You lose, again.

Beyond that, let me make something else clear: I don’t give a damn that you “don’t give two shits” what I say. It won’t stop me from replying to asshole posts by you. Enjoy your day.

                • Nilanka15

lol, my opinion of you goes far beyond your innocent little post above.

                  Get a clue, dude.

                • p00ka

And you think your internet opinion of me means anything? Perhaps in your little world, but not with me or anybody else. You just resort to these types of responses any time you run out of re-directs.

Getting back to the present, all you had to do is answer the question to interpret what you were saying, but you turned this into what it became. Sad when ppl get hung up on old thoughts to the point they can’t deal with the present. Oh well. Until next time :)

                • hater

you know wut dummy, it wouldv been easier if u just answerd the question and not be a sensitive little prick anytime ur asked a question,,,,answer the question and move on.

                • Nilanka15

Haha, and look who shows up to stand up for his bed buddy.

I would be easier for you to learn how to read before posting on this site.

                • hater

                  same old shit dummy.

read ur 2nd paragraph “I would be easier for you to learn how to read”

I would be easier? dont u mean “it” would be easier? dumb fk lmao

if ur gonna pick on the same old petty shit, at least get it rite on your end. and ill continue typing like this as long as it continues to piss off morons like u

        • me

Sorry, it’s just that i know you don’t like one of my wings and l feel like you are jumpng on him whenever you get a chance…that one was true about DD but a little bit below th belt.lo

          • Nilanka15

No harm intended bro.  Just a subtle attempt at humour on a Wednesday morning.

          • p00ka

Below the belt shots are Nilanka’s specialty, as is his claim of “humour” when he gets jammed up about it.

    • what the

I could see you asking for your boy gary forbes autograph future allstar as you called him

  • Statement

A little off topic, but Valanciunas fouls A LOT.  It’ll definitely take some time for the guy to get up to speed, maybe a year or so.  If I recall, Bargs struggled with foul trouble and really wasn’t able to stay in games until later on in the year.  Val is a much more agressive defender, so his struggles could persist for the whole year.

    • Nilanka15

As much as we rip NBA officiating, it’s easily the most consistent anywhere in the world (compared to FIBA or NCAA officiating).

Maybe this is wishful thinking, but after 20-25 games to start the season, I’m hoping Jonas gets the hang of what’s a foul, and what isn’t, and adjusts accordingly.

      • Statement

Here’s hoping.  In many ways he is simliar to Amir (who Buddhafan on raptorshq aptly compared him to before he was drafted).

    • CJT

A suppose this could be considered a little off topic.

    • mountio

This is no question the biggest concern in my mind about him. Its downright ridiculus the minutes hes played in some of these games .. and it can primarily be attributed to his foul troubles (either that he racks them up to quickly so the coach cant keep him out there or even if he is out there hes not effective due to his over-aggression).
To some extent Im with Nilanka .. this is something that can be improved upon (and NBA refs will help) .. as the AB haters will atest to, its much easier to control someone with agression and a great motor than to teach someone to have a motor when they dont naturally have one ..

      • Statement

Last game was 11 min and 3 fouls!!

Re: it’s much easier to control someone with agression:

        I agree with that completely.

      • Statement

He averaged 3.2 fouls in 23.3 minutes a game in Eurocup league.  I think you can safely bump that up to 4 fouls over the same time period in the NBA.  This means that 20-25 min is a realistic expectation for him to be playing even as late as midway through the season.

For the first part of the season, that personal foul rate will be much higher.

    • Jamshid

I said this before and I will say it again … Big Val will need time to adapt to NBA speed and game … He will NOT be the force that everyone here hopes for at least 3 years … I have a bet with Nilanka about Big Val vs Davis this season and I am sure, Davis, will out play Big Val in his first year.

The best we can expect from big Val in the first half of the season is 6-7 points and 5 rebounds …

      • Nilanka15

No, I bet you that Jonas will get inducted into the HOF by the all-star break, and Davis will be scrubbing my toilets.

        I’m gonna win!!!

    • raptorpoo

We should have continued the rebuilding phase but now we’ve accelerated in to the competing phase. Bright move BC.

Just as you mentioned, Big V is going to take time to develop and will actually be more of a liability to use at the beginning rather then a weapon. And, TR is a exact replica of DR – maybe better shooting but less experience. So I beg to question: with the slight upgrade with the addition of Lowry and subtraction of Bayless, how are we a much better team? Also note: Big V can’t play well unless you’ve got a picknroll PG, which Lowry is not. How long do you think he’s going to set a pick, roll to the bucket and wave for the ball like he does, when he knows the ball ain’t coming?

      My point?
We should have swung for the fences with a pick like Drummond, tanked again next season, get a high pick (ala Shabaaz), trade our useless ‘stars’ 2for1 and upgrade one position, sign an up and coming star to a max deal with our loads of cap room that we would have had (as we would have been developing rooks), and pad the rest of the positions in FA.

But… it wasn’t mean to be. What you see is what you get.

Here’s your future championship team Toronto!

Good job BC. Now that adding something substantial through the draft is out of the question and we used up most of our cap space, all we need to do now is to correct the severe deficiencies in each and every player that we have and we’ll be well on our way. Clap clap.

      • Afimi Sinting

“how are we a much better team”? … because Andrea is going to beast just ask Cesco and with addition of little Val , kyle and full training camp… much better team ain’t that right Cesco?lo

  • Jeev

I have confidence that Casey can teach JV the trick to avoiding fouls on the court…at least on the defensive end of the court.

  • c_bcm

How did this thread get turned into a JV-fouls-a-lot discussion? smh

I’m sure this will be a scene repeated when the US plays Nigeria. Poor guys are so star-struck. They probably consider it an honour to get blasted by NBA players.

    • mountio

youd prefer to talk about random dudes gettin kobe autographs?

    • Destro

I think picking up fouls against NBA stars is a lil different than JV fouling it up against Nigeria dont you ?

  • Statement

Also, to answer the question posed in the title of the article: no.

    • Statement

unless you are referring to kobe beef.

      • Statement

        and not kobe’s beef.

  • me

What you guys need to talk about is the job the NBA commish and BC has done this summer in making sure that the Toronto Raptors(TR)  got “The Rookie”{TR] and franchise player that they need going forward … now if only they would let him start .
                                      TERRENCE ROSS (TR)

    • me

And yes they knew they were picking him (caseys boy) just look at BC and Caseys face when they talk about him,(TR)

  • Statement

Funny, we were chatting about Val and his expectations and raptorshq just came out with an article seeking to temper people’s expectations about Val (sorry Arse, this is the last time I’ll pimp raptorshq)

Their conclusion:  Even players like Noah and Chandler (Val’s comparables) took roughly 3 years to really be double-double threats, though they were very productive in the minutes played.  This seems reasonable for Val as well.

  • what the

what happened to PHD Steve?? that guy had the best podcasts. haven’t seen him since nilanka always got into fights with another poster on the rapcast forums which got PHD Steve annoyed. even after he told nilanka to stop

    • Jimbo

It is really sad !!! The quality of the writing on this site has gone down from 2 years ago. Without guys like phdsteve and … We only left with Arsenalist and occasional altsrap .

  • ZZ

I didn’t know Arsenalist browsed reddit.

btw, you linked the mobile version of the site, remove the “.compact” from the URL and you’re good to go.
