Here’s my Daily Dime At The Buzzer contribution. See the player grades below.
Jose Calderon. His first career triple double with 13-10-10, he also carried the team on his back in the first quarter while everyone else found their legs, turning 9-2 deficit to 29-21 advantage.
Andrea Bargnani. Shot 3/13 and had eight less rebounds than Calderon. He is now at 36% shooting for the year and has just 130 points on 126 field goal attempts with just 37 rebounds.
In the final 40 seconds, the Pacers took five field goal attempts. They missed each one but grabbed every offensive rebound. They continue to be lost offensively, shooting 32% for the game.
Paul George hasn’t evolved as hoped with Granger out, but he’s shown the ability to contribute when his shot isn’t falling. He shot just 3/14 but had nine rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Ugly. The Raptors hit just one field goal and scored just five points in the fourth quarter, a franchise-record low, but still hung on to win.
|Dominic McGuire, SF 18 MIN | 1-1 FG | 0-0 FT | 4 REB | 0 AST | 2 PTS | +2Didn’t really do a whole lot, though his work on Paul George was adequate.|
|Andrea Bargnani, C 30 MIN | 3-13 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 1 AST | 8 PTS | +53/13 and he’s now 45/126 on the year with hardly a point per FGA. He had just two rebounds once again. At least David West’s shot wasn’t dropping.|
|Jonas Valanciunas, C 22 MIN | 4-8 FG | 1-2 FT | 8 REB | 2 AST | 9 PTS | +49-and-8 in 22 minutes and looked solid once again. Curiously, Casey kept his minutes light again despite Roy Hibbert being exceedingly mediocre against him.|
|Jose Calderon, PG 39 MIN | 5-10 FG | 1-1 FT | 10 REB | 10 AST | 13 PTS | +5His first career triple double with 13-10-10, Jose also carried the team on his back in the first quarter when things started out ugly.|
|DeMar DeRozan, SG 40 MIN | 5-13 FG | 5-6 FT | 5 REB | 0 AST | 15 PTS | -2Clearly exhausted having played 100 minutes in two nights, he wasn’t as active as the night before but still played well enough.|
|Ed Davis, PF 15 MIN | 0-1 FG | 0-0 FT | 5 REB | 0 AST | 0 PTS | -1Five quick fouls despite no Pacer big posing a real threat tonight, Davis was once again only able to chip in on the boards.|
|Amir Johnson, PF 29 MIN | 2-9 FG | 3-4 FT | 7 REB | 0 AST | 7 PTS | -4Played solid defense but missed a few shots in close and took a few ill-advised shots as well.|
|Linas Kleiza, SF 25 MIN | 2-9 FG | 6-6 FT | 4 REB | 0 AST | 10 PTS | -1Was iced, literally, for a long stretch where it looked like he may have had an ankle sprain. He toughed it out but wasn’t particularly effective.|
|John Lucas, PG 9 MIN | 1-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 0 AST | 3 PTS | -3The fact that he played just nine minutes a night after Calderon played 50 is all you need to know. He doesn’t have his shot right now, and he doesn’t have Casey’s trust.|
|Terrence Ross, SG 13 MIN | 3-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 0 AST | 7 PTS | +5Looked very good in his limited opportunities, showing his jumper and displaying very active hands defensively. Needs more exposure.|
