Routine stuff at home versus the Hornets.

102Toronto Raptors
Amir Johnson, PF 27 MIN | 6-9 FG | 2-4 FT | 7 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 14 PTS | +3

Great start to the game, ended up with a typical efficient effort.

Rudy Gay, SF 41 MIN | 8-19 FG | 4-4 FT | 8 REB | 4 AST | 2 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 20 PTS | +27

Hit some big shots in the 4th, although the game was pretty much in the bag. Efficiency is still not as good as it can be, but the rebounding numbers make up for it. When he’s up to it, his man defense is elite. Ryan Anderson found that out the hard way.

Jonas Valanciunas, C 34 MIN | 5-8 FG | 1-2 FT | 10 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK | 2 TO | 11 PTS | +19

If only enthusiasm was a stat, Jonas would dominate every night. Played inspired defense, and had another strong rebounding night. Got burned more than once defending the pick-and-roll, but the rook will improve.

Kyle Lowry, PG 29 MIN | 4-7 FG | 4-4 FT | 5 REB | 10 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK | 2 TO | 14 PTS | +15

That’s much better, Kyle. His first half was reminiscent of the first few games of the season when he looked like a potential All-Star. Some Jose-like passes to the reliable Amir, and great defense that caused the Hornets issues on offense.

DeMar DeRozan, SG 32 MIN | 3-7 FG | 1-2 FT | 4 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 4 TO | 7 PTS | 0

These nights are more excusable/understandable with the number of offensive options this team now possesses. At least he doesn’t shoot the team out of the game when he’s not feeling it. What happened to all those assists he’s been racking up recently?

Landry Fields, SF 18 MIN | 2-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 4 PTS | +7

He’s such a smart defender, knows how to bother defenders without getting whistled. Nice put back late in the game. Needs to do more offensively, obviously.

Aaron Gray, C 2 MIN | 1-1 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 2 PTS | +1

Point per minute pace, and gets only 2 minutes? Fire Casey.

John Lucas, PG 20 MIN | 7-11 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 19 PTS | -2

The story of the game. The bad bench play since the Rudy trade culminated today in the first half where a mediocre team stormed back to erase a double digit lead. Mr. Lucas responded with easily his best minutes as a Raptor. Not a sustainable kind of shooting night, but this was JLIII’s moment, no question about it.

Alan Anderson, SG 30 MIN | 4-12 FG | 2-2 FT | 3 REB | 3 AST | 3 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 11 PTS | +4

Starting to play his way off this team with some questionable, selfish play. Too bad, because he has good court vision when he chooses to use it. His offense is now redundant on this team, and his defense isn’t really all that some make it out to be.

Terrence Ross, SG 8 MIN | 0-1 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 0 PTS | -9

Air balled a 3. He’s not getting enough minutes to really get into the game.

Dwane Casey

Gets a B for lighting whatever fire up the Third’s behind and then getting the hell out of his .way. Showed some improvisation by riding a hot bench deep into the 4th quarter.

Three Things We Saw

  1. Anthony Davis, did not impress at all. Too skinny, lacks a face-up game. Not a good combination.
  2. These two teams may have similar records, but the Raptors are clearly more talented. Make of that what you will.
  3. He didn’t show up on our RR Recap generator thingamajig, so here it is:
