Recap | Box Score

84Toronto Raptors
Amir Johnson, PF 37 MIN | 2-8 FG | 2-2 FT | 13 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 3 BLK | 2 TO | 6 PTS | -3The offense wasn’t there, but 13 rebounds and 3 blocks tells me he was trying to contribute where he could. B- might be a bit high, but in his defense, most of the team had a hard time getting going without producing in the other facets of the game.
Rudy Gay, SF 42 MIN | 1-11 FG | 5-6 FT | 6 REB | 4 AST | 4 STL | 1 BLK | 5 TO | 7 PTS | -3Missed shot. Turnover. Missed shot. Turnover. At least he wasn’t 4-21. Seriously, this was easily his worst game in a Raptor uniform, but he grabbed 6 rebounds, dished out 4 steals and swiped 4 steals. I’m not sold on the C-, but I felt D+ was too harsh.
Jonas Valanciunas, C 18 MIN | 2-4 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 4 PTS | -6He needs Olajuwon to coach him on offense. He’s absolutely no threat unless he’s at the rim with a head of steam. Liked his defensive effort on Nene, but if he keeps up his fouls, we might have to call him Mr. Hands.
Kyle Lowry, PG 32 MIN | 6-17 FG | 3-6 FT | 5 REB | 3 AST | 2 STL | 2 BLK | 2 TO | 18 PTS | -3He could have done more; could always do more. Run the offense, make some plays, more pick and rolls…more cowbell…I dunno…I now know why other team’s fans want him on their squad, but his current team always lets him go for nothing. I did enjoy his defense down the stretch when the Raptors were playing against the spread, but it mattered not.
DeMar DeRozan, SG 39 MIN | 9-17 FG | 7-9 FT | 4 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK | 2 TO | 25 PTS | -4Showed up for work, and put pressure (the only Raptor to put pressure) on the Wizards interior defense. I especially appreciate his commitment to getting to the line; 7-9 tonight. Solid.
Landry Fields, SF 5 MIN | 0-0 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 0 PTS | -2Garbage; somehow manage to trick Casey into giving him 5 minutes of floor time.
Andrea Bargnani, C 21 MIN | 4-11 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 0 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 8 PTS | -2He drew a charge and hit a couple timely jumpers. So while the booing is just bad decorum, he really doesn’t do anything to avoid getting booed.
John Lucas, PG 16 MIN | 4-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 9 PTS | -3Spark off the bench in the 2nd quarter when the Raptors needed a jolt; they didn’t think to go back to him when the game was slipping out of reach in the 4th. Even dropped three dimes; couldn’t have expected more from the kid.
Terrence Ross, SG 6 MIN | 1-2 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 3 PTS | -2Had totally forgot about him until he hit that three in the 4th. That’s all he did of note.
Dwane CaseyNot sure what he could have done with all the ugly that was abound. At the end of the day, the players need to run plays and take advantage of opportunities as they develop, but would have been nice if the lineups were mixed up a bit; could have used more Lucas during the leaner times.

Three Things We Saw

  1. The first half made me hate life; some of the ugliest basketball ever witnessed.
  2. Raptors had more turnovers (14) than assists (13). That’s all that needs to be said.
  3. Just really glad this game finished.
