Atlanta Hawks 107 Final
Recap | Box Score
88 Toronto Raptors
Amir Johnson, PF 20 MIN | 3-6 FG | 1-1 FT | 5 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 7 PTS | +4

Not a coincidence the game quickly got away after his departure.

Rudy Gay, SF 35 MIN | 6-14 FG | 3-4 FT | 12 REB | 3 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK | 5 TO | 15 PTS | -4

His rebounding elevated what was a rather mediocre night offensively. Too bad they don’t award style points because he made some beautiful plays.

Jonas Valanciunas, C 32 MIN | 8-11 FG | 3-4 FT | 8 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK | 2 TO | 19 PTS | -18

Offense and rebounding are showing major consistency, but his interior defense is nowhere near what Amir’s is and it showed on this night.

Kyle Lowry, PG 34 MIN | 1-5 FG | 1-2 FT | 7 REB | 10 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 3 TO | 3 PTS | -22

Probably one of the biggest disappointments this year will be the lack of offense from the guy who was traded for what will be a lottery pick. His defense on Teague was suspect at times.

DeMar DeRozan, SG 36 MIN | 5-14 FG | 4-6 FT | 2 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 3 TO | 14 PTS | -21

Just not enough. The only contribution was hoisting up a lot of shots to a subpar percentage. Can’t be this teams shooting guard if it wants to take the next step.

Landry Fields, SF 7 MIN | 1-2 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 2 PTS | -9

Not getting enough PT, could have used his defense in the second half.

Aaron Gray, C 6 MIN | 0-1 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 0 PTS | -2

Ran hard.

John Lucas, PG 14 MIN | 1-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 3 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 3 PTS | +3

His main contribution is giving fans a perspective on how tall the other guys on the court really are.

Alan Anderson, SG 31 MIN | 5-13 FG | 0-1 FT | 1 REB | 2 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK | 3 TO | 12 PTS | -21

Continues his quest for an NBA contract.

Terrence Ross, SG 24 MIN | 5-9 FG | 2-2 FT | 5 REB | 0 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 13 PTS | -5

Actually a pretty decent performance. Do not ever want to see that pull-up long two again. Haven’t the Raptors’ advanced stats gurus sent the memo?

Dwane Casey

Brought in Val too late. Brought in Gay too late. He’s letting the team play out the string, which is completely unnecessary when draft ranking is not even part of the equation. Looks defeated.

Three Things We Saw

  1. Either Jeff Teague is a really good up-and-coming point guard or the Raptors made him look like one.
  2. Sick and tired of the outdated Raptor jerseys and that lame court design. It’s starting to look kind of minor league.
  3. DeMar DeRozan may never develop a three point shot. It doesn’t even looks close sometimes when he takes it.

This team fricking sucks – tired of watching Kyle Winer act like the he’s the shit and the world (and especially refs) owe him. He’s an immature suck who doesn’t and may never understand what it takes to win.

    Don’t like your tone A-Dub.

Yeah, but risk an injury to Big V or Gay?

This team is fucked, left and right. So let’s look at the positives. There’s only 2 on this team, AJ and JV.

    • arsenalist

Brave yourself for an Alan Anderson extension.

      • nilanka

hes better then demar…..and aint that a kick in the nuts.

        • Adriiian

You are being waaaaaaayyyyy too cynical my friend.

          • Nilanka15

In no world is Anderson better than DeMar.

            • truuth

so p00ka is pretending to be you now?

              • Nilanka15

                Who knows…

              • DumbassKicker

Probably the same pathetic twerp that poses as p00ka (though Nilballsa
calls that a lie),,,,, maybe even the same clown that calls himself
                “truuth”, among many other names.

            • Copywryter

In a world where Demar earns 9.5m per season and AA 800k he’s better. DD is NOT 10 times better than AA. That will change next year of course.

      • leftovercrack

wouldn’t it be howling at the moon funny if he extended Anderson for $9 million a year or something like that? That’s what Demar got, what Fields will make the year after next and Anderson has played better than either of them

      • Guest

Why’d you have to say that? 🙁
I mean Anderson over DeMar? Come on now, now we’re getting extreme.

    • onemanweave

Casey probably is defeated –he’s about the only guy this team can beat on a regular basis. I’ll hate to see him go. He made basketball watchable after the Colangelo-coached teams of the previous years after Mitchell was dumped for the horrible sin of trying to make Andrea work up a sweat.
The new prez-GM, whatever, needs to find a good, veteran coach and give him a long-term contract. That way, he can install HIS system and players will work within it or hit the highway. I do not pretend to have the expertise to say who this should be, but a Stan Van Gundy type, as an example.
Casey does not have the experience or the contract to mold this team. Hopefully, the new regime will not allow the inmates to run the asylum.

“Probably one of the biggest disappointments this year will be the lack of offense from the guy who was traded for what will be a lottery pick” Didn’t Lowry average 20+ points pre-injury and everyone said he needs to stop shooting and play like the man who took his starting job? Now that he has you guys want him to shoot more? How is he supposed to please you and shoot when our offense is basically iso for DeMar/Gay and even then he got 10 assists..

    • Leftovercrack

Every move Raptors management makes, makes no sense. We have two high-volume shooting wings, so we trade or selfless, passing PG who would be ideally suited to feeding them the ball, and we give up a lottery draft pick for a PG who is another shooter and a poor passer. We used our No. 8 draft pick to draft Ross, then extend Demar and trade for Gay so that basically we used a precious lottery pick on a backup. Beneath the sleek suits and looks of wisdom are a bunch of chuckleheads who make Homer Simpson look like Einstein

      • FLUXLAND

Suit Bryan is never close to Ghost Bryan.

      • DumbassKicker

“we used a precious lottery pick on a backup”

Shyt, those 11 “likes” are proof that stupidity is contagious in these parts. Do you have any idea how many good teams have a 6th man, whose a wing, and who plays equal minutes to starters? You fn incessant whiners and bitchers have a clue how hard it has been to find good wings for the Raptors? Now we have 3 and you whine and bitch. Un fn real how dumb fans can be.

        • FLUXLAND

Dumballs stikes again! Let me get this straight, you are whining and bitching about people whining and bitching? You don’t even qualify for the Sheriff post anymore, you’re now more of Gestapo officer lashing out against anyone who speaks ill of the regime while your arguments are still of the idiotic “hey, let’s look at how shitty other teams are and feel better about things” shtick.

What’s the matter? Can’t go with the “let’s remember how the Titanic Division Title season started” line anymore? Or should we take comfort in your “Casey is a nice guy” BS? I guess we can always count on Herr p00kaballs to contribute nothing but excuses and fan attacks.

          • DumbassKicker

Hmmm, inventing shyt, infantile name calling, and not a word about the topic,,, babbling. Not getting enough action from your FuxHand? Try sniffing mommy’s panties again, and feel batter about yourself..

            • FLUXLAND

Nah, son. All of the above you have said and done. Own up to it, don’t be a pussy. All you do is dilute arguments by making zero sense comparisons like “hey look at Tim Duncan’s rookie numbers or look at Kobe’s numbers at 18 years old” or “the Spurs don’t know jack, they just get lucky sometimes”. Anything that doesn’t fit your check of approval is “stupdity”.. right Herr pookaballs?

I agreed with “the topic”; you attacked the guy with your “everyone is dumber than me” BS and then excused the incompetence with some garbage about finding wings being rocket science.

They you close off with some grade school insult and talk about me infantile name calling. I guess the one thing we can always count on is your hypocrisy. So expect me more of my babble calling you out, for sure.

              • DumbassKicker

lmfao ;), keep “calling me out”, lmfao

      • NyAlesund

        Welcome to Colangelo’s team/world.

  • nilanka

    i blame bargs.

    • Fire Colangelo NOW

Yes indeed Barney is to be blamed for this season. I swear never to buy Primo pasta again!

    • Amigo

I m waiting for Tim W. to appear and explain how comes this team is terrible without Bargnani and Calderon and J.Triano. He has got a PHD on Whining, I ve been told.

      • nilanka

this is r.r. officially selling out for content….allowing tim to pollute this place with his bullcrap just makes this season and this website all the worse.

        • Nilanka15

Not to mention posters pretending to be someone else

          • truuth

            it’s p00ka, sooo obvious.

            • DumbassKicker

Are you really as pathetic as your games.

          • DumbassKicker

            But that doesn’t happen, right?

    • What the

so do I, if he had played better then we could have traded his fn ass and get something back that could help this team going forward.

  • wes mantooth

kyle lowry was a mistake! demar derozan is a sedated version of jr smith , rudy gay is an under achiever, allen anderson…, amir and jv are beasts!! dwayne casey is i over his head and ross needs minutes and plays run for him. lets see what we have. jv is a beast

    • nilanka

please dont insult jr smith by mentioning emar erozan in the same sentence.

  • Michael H

The raps really need better ball movement. So many players seem to be looking to get shots off no matter if they are having to force them to do so (gay, Anderson, lowry etc) The team just does not play together or unselfishly. They need more players like Amir who actually play team ball. It is so frustrating to watch when the raps start losing and to see how quickly players like Lowry’s attitude changes and they start looking upset and not trying to get their team back in the game.

  • cocozza

    i blame bargs.

    • NyAlesund

I think Bargs agree with you……………….lol

  • Ds

Glad they fed Valenciunas the ball in the post. Had 3 and-1s in the third, and no one could stop him, not even Horford, who is as solid as any defensively, but then he didn’t see the ball again until the end of the fourth and the game was out of hand. Do we have a coach?

    • robertparrish00

Agreed. But this is nothing new. Feeding the hot hand, rotations and play calling are not Casey’s strong suit.

Positive note, JV was the leading scorer!

      • What the

how about feeding a guy who playes in the paint JV.

    • DumbassKicker

Once again, stupidity rules the board!! 1. In the heat of a game, Casey is not responsible for poor ball movement of players. 2. It’s funny how NBA defenses tend to adjust in the 4th and somehow lean toward taking away what’s been successful, eh. Strange.

  • hyperdouche

So glad someone finally mentioned the outdated jerseys. Seriously, we’re not the Bulls or Lakers and it’s been like over 10 years.

  • FAQ

Ummmm… just trying to recall what I was saying at the beginning of the season about the Ratpors…..

  • morgan c

Ya, wow. Just worst possible outcome for this season. It’s true; you can look at our roster on paper, but the fact is we are a very bad team. We have no flexibility going forward. We will probably get worse. We just can’t assume improvement for DeMar and Rudy and KL – they are as good as they’ll probably ever be. I feel hopeless right now, I really do. I just can’t buy guys like phD Steve’s arguments that this team should stay the course to contend for a 6-8 seed. We aren’t talented and have a bad coach. Can’t see us winning a playoff round in the next decade.

I’d BLOW IT UP next year
    (Keep JV, TR) and TANK
As a fan, I’d rather wait 5 years to get a champion team than 5 years of mediocracy
I still cant comprehend how MLSE is ignorant to the future of this team
O wait … Right, thy only effing care bout Leafs and Jays …
MLSE is equally as incompetent and its frustrating the shit out of me !!!
Honestly we should all write letters to MLSE detailing the MANY FLAWS of this raptors team and show them that YES WE GIVE A FK
