JD landed a straight shot…at the Knicks’ chances of getting Lowry

According to the New York Daily News, mercurial Knicks owner James Dolan blocked a trade that would have seen Kyle Lowry traded to New York for Raymond Felton, Metta World Peace and one of Iman Shumpert, a 2018 1st round draft pick or Tim Hardaway Jr.

A source with knowledge of the situation said that a deal had been reached, but Dolan pulled the plug over concerns that “he didn’t want to be fleeced again by Masai”.

This is probably the most even trade out of the previous ones involving Mesai, Ujiri has Dolan second guessing anything that he is behind of, pretty funny

Let’s move on. Trades not happening. Is like to see Lowry stay but there’s no fit here for him. Masai will find another team. There’s no rush. Who cares about nyk. The problem with this chatter is that it affects the team when names are being thrown around and a deal doesn’t happen!

there is a rush, we need to start losing soon and fast. considering kings and net are going to get better, we are around the 5th in the league but with lowry gone, we can reach utah levels of losing

Reading the knick blogs, it seems the issue is giving up to much in future assets. I think MU ships back one of the knick’s future 2nd rounder to get THJR and a future first

    • DDayLewis

New York doesn’t necessarily care about keeping the assets, they just dont want to blow all of them on one present asset. They believe they can use the three trade chips they have to get 2 pieces to help the team compete in the present.

NY (read: dolan) doesn’t want to be made fun of in the media, which is bound to happen with pretty much any trade, because that’s now the easiest assumption to make.

  • Slap Dog Hoops

It’s pretty ridicoulous seeing someone that ABSOLUTELY knows nothing about basketball making basketball decisions. It’s no wonder why the Kincks have not gone anywhere for so long.

    • Nilanka15

Yeah kind of scary that billion dollar franchises are run by emotion rather than reason/logic.

“But, but, but, what will people think about me?!?!”

  • 2damkule

i didn’t mind the return including one of shump, THjr or a future pick. MWP…a nice asset to ship to a contender at the deadline for a 2nd rounder, or package in a deal (that would be tight, time-wise).

but since this iteration (and likely the knicks as a trade partner) is dead, it at least gets it out there what lowry’s value is, and what it’ll take to get him.

    That’s hilarious.

    • 2damkule

whenever the raps’ history of futility becomes overwhelming, i think about what’s gone down in MY since JD took over, and it warms my heart.

What are you talking about? The Knicks are better at spending money than just about ANYONE in the league. Right now, they have $68 million tied up into what is basically two positions. That’s awesome! Imagine how good they’ll be when they start spending that kind of money on the other positions.

  • David Bassily

So does this mean that all bridges are burned with the Knicks and that MU needs to find a new team to trade Lowry to, or does the deal with the Knicks just need to be restructured? Personally I say fuck the Knicks and especially Dolan. If he’s taking it personally because we he agrees to trades and then realizes that he’s a moron than maybe he should find a new line of work. We’ll just give Lowry to the Nets; there are two teams in New York anyways.

    • DDayLewis

It’s just posturing. If New York loses another 3 in a row, they’ll come crawling back. Make no mistake, with multiple suitors involved, Masai is in the driver’s seat.

  • SR

Every day I am glad that James Dolan does not run the Toronto Raptors.

    Yes, it could be worse.

  • keith

things are going to change once sunday is gone. That is when all the summer free agents will be available, right? I think some other teams will come calling.

and really, I didn’t think a trade with Felton involved was going to work anyways. How would he pass a physical unless they knowingly will take a brokedown player. I hope they won’t because Felton is risky at best, injured would just be straight dumb no matter who else comes with him.

  • Brett Charles Pilon

Shumpert is overhyped, what has he done to earn trade talks like him for Lowry ? or the Manimal ?

  • Thornbury

If Dolan did nix the trade, I am glad. Its not nearly enough for KLOW. Also, all these future picks in these trade rumours are crazy. A 2018 pick? A 2020 pick? What the hell? 7 years from now we get to use the pick? Geez. I realize its an asset but c’mon.

  • Kyle

Masai’s career is dependant on Dolan. One can’t exist without the other

  • joe

If they were to get a Knicks player, rather than the pick, would MJ need to throw in another player?

    • joe

Nobody knows? Also, is there somebody on the internet who publishes say a spreadsheet showing the draft picks eg there are 180 draft picks in the next three years: where are they?

      • Zan Tabak Fan

nbadraft.net does a good job of this.
