We’re going deep into the RR bench and find Sam Holako (@RapsFan) who is in a sporting mood for this Rapcast. You might be curious why we’re even having a podcast since there’s literally nothing Raptors-related going on; to satisfy that curiosity you’ll just have to listen as we navigate through a host of topics that you’ll be forced to admit are deep-rooted as ever in Raptors lore – past and present:

  • #RaptorsDay – What the hell?
  • Can Rob Ford get us Kevin Durant
  • Ex-GM Colangelo resurfaces in the NBA in the faintest of ways
  • Ex-Raptor Mark Jackson is seen hovering near a broadcast booth
  • Heat beating the Nets and Sam’s soft spot for Chris Bosh
  • Picking one of Vasquez and Pattereson, and the Jose Calderon angle to things
  • Projecting Terrence Ross to Joe Johnson – early career similarities
  • Drafting for position vs Best Player Available – does strategy change the later the pick gets?
  • Running down ALL THE FREE AGENTS at Small Forward and Power Forward
  • Contemplating signing Monroe even though we have JV and flipping JV
  • Ed Davis before he got traded = 4yr/32M (haha), Boris Diaw?
  • What does “Twitter thing” mean
  • Asterisk’s and stuff with OKC/Ibaka
  • Will the Raptors win a title in the next 10 years?
  • Is Game of Thrones done downloading?

I can’t believe we rambled about nothing for 45 minutes

you sound drunk. Rudy gay loving faggot.

This type of comment should be banned.

flipping jv was the stupidest thing you guys said during that podcast. I know I sound like a dick but I just had to say it.

      • arsenalist

Didn’t suggest it. The point was that the idea that you should only sign free agents where there’s a positional need isn’t necessarily true.

        • noname

          ok…that makes more sense.

  • Matteemo

Sorry if I missed this as I was working while listening, but did you mention Thabo Sefolosha as a potential FA to fill the need for a defensive wing? OKC may not be able to afford to resign him, and it could help us pull in Durant in 2016, which by the way, I feel is a long shot.

    • arsenalist

Pass. I’ll take the cheaper Ross any day, he might even develop into an offensive player and is already a better three-point shooter.

      • jjdynomite

Matteemo never mentioned that Thabo would start in front of Ross. He would be a kickass defensive stopper, especially if the Raps drafted a SF/PF scorer like Warren or Early at the #20 slot.

In fact, Thabo would be the perfect veteran who would be content to play behind an erratic third year starter like Ross.

Seriously I sometimes wonder about you guys.

  • Matteemo

I also like Chris Kaman on a short and cheap 1 or 2 year deal to play backup C behind JV. Target a guy like Patrick Young or Dwight Powell in the second round and hope that they become dependable by the time Kaman’s short contract expires.

I can live with a Luol Deng signing, he’d improve us at the small forward, would definitely help us guard a lot of bad match-ups(we’d finally have someone we could throw on Lebron). And if Ross settles into a bench role it’ll boost our bench as well. Pau Gasol and Luol Deng are my dream pickups this offseason but neither is very likely, the latter more than the former.

I stopped paying attention when he said he’d rather Drummond than Valanciunas. Valanciunas has way better moves, and way better hands, he can shoot free throws and the midrange shot with the pump fake. You have no idea what you’re talking about Valanciunas has way more skill than that guy you’ve been watching too much american television
