The Aussies boast the likes of Aron Baynes and former Raptor David Andersen.

But Jonas has little regard for those minions. He continues his dominant performance in international ball, scoring 19 points while grabbing eight rebounds. If someone could link to the boxscore of this game in the comments below, that would be appreciated. I can’t, for the life of me, find it.

UPDATE: Jonas scored 19 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field and 7-of-8 from the line. He also drew 7 (!!!) fouls in just 26 minutes of play. Props to commentor imvaid for hunting down the boxscore.

Here you go, straight from the official Aussie National Team site. But only the Aussie side.

Jeeez….i hate watching highlights of free throws….ugh

I like the fact that he was posting up in the paint. running hook, drop step, face up drives. that’s exactly what the Raptors want to see.

Ah… Nathan Jawai memories… another great Colangelo contribution

    • Tee

JV is a great BC contribution too.

    • Tee

By the way guess who was the head of international scouting for the raps when they drafted Jawai?

      Masai.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

  • Raptogram

I’m not really all that impressed. He looks the same as last year.

    • The Coach

Are you comparing him to last year at this competition or the end of the Raptors season?
I find it interesting that so many people (talking about Raps Republic posts, not just this one) are looking to see if he has totally changed his game and now has all of the Dream’s post moves… it’s only been three months since he last played for the Raps and I don’t think a few pushups and a basketball school with Hakeem will vault him to NBA hall a famer. What we should be looking for are improvements in areas… just like DeMar from season to season. Is he better than last year at this time? From the highlights I’m watching it sure looks that way… is he better than at the end of the year in the Brooklyn series? Won’t know till next season after we advance past the first round.

        well said.

footwork seems a bit better. he’s establishing deep post position better, and is showing off some nice hands & finishing ability/ability to draw fouls. you can’t glean too much from a clip like this.

Jonas has been steadily improving, but one thing I take from this is that he’s not afraid to make contact. He was banging down low, and while there were a couple fadeaways on the left block, he seemed to be living in the paint for the most part. The added weight he put on doesn’t seem to have hindered his mobility. The last two plays actually got me excited, as he showed good hands, good anticipation and footwork.

One thing I really want to see, although probably won’t in this tournament, is if he’s improved on his pick-setting.

The thing that I notice about him in international play is that he plays like he wants and expects the ball in his hands. I hope he can bring some of that back with him and I hope Kyle and Demar rely on him more as the #3 offensive option this season.

I hope the Raps guards watch this and see that Jonas can actually be passed to once in awhile on the pick n roll. They seem to be blind to the possibilities of a 7 footer under the rim.

  • G MAN

Jonas was great and has been looking dominant in international play. I kind of want to see us play spain to see how he does against the gasols. especially marc.

And daaamn Exum looked like he should have gone undrafted, this guy needs alot of hep if he is to get anywhere close to his so called ceiling.

  • tonious35

Jonas looking more fluid on his post attacks. Damn, I feel like getting some Huawei phones now……
