  • Rautins Hoping to Follow In His Dad's Footstep's

Andy Rautins will be close to his phone and not far from his dad, hoping to following in Leo Rautins’ footsteps.

Andy Rautins has gotten much ink in the days and weeks leading up to Thursday’s draft, but he, more than any draft-eligible player, represents the uncertainty that is the process of selecting prospects.

By all accounts, Andy Rautins has distinguished himself at every workout he has attended, leaving an impression at each stop he’s made, but there’s no clarity on where he’ll be taken.

He may go late in the first round, slip into the second round and be taken as low as 40.

There aren’t many shooters who are better than Rautins, there aren’t many whose feel for the game is as good as the Canadian national team member.

The questions involve Rautins’ ability to create his own shot and an exact position in the backcourt.

Is he a point guard? Does he play off the ball?

    Is he a combo guard?

    Where will he be drafted?

Unknowns that won’t be answered until Thursday.

What is known is that Rautins wooed scouts at the Chicago pre-draft camp, followed it up at a Minnesota event that attracted very bird dog and most team executives.

Rautins has auditioned for San Antonio, Miami, Lakers, Portland, Phoenix, Sacramento, Memphis, Indiana, New York, Minnesota, Orlando and visited New Jersey, but a sore ankle prevented him from working out.

The guessing game ends Thursday night.

They are making it sound like he's a lock to get drafted. I heard asome of his workouts were pretty disappointing. He's not even on the Draft Express board.

I hope so! Any time a Canadian has a chance to be in the L, I'm all for it. He seems like he has a very high bball IQ, but not the physique to match. I would still take him however, you know he's going to get better being on the national team and being the son of Leo.

Andy will play both in the NBA and Europe, with the majority of his career spent in Europe. He'll also be a regular member of the Canadian team... just like his ol' man.

I don't know if you are serious and you give him respect or you meant to be funny but I laughed anyways.
