  • Tor/NO/Hou/Cha Trade - Can We Make It Happen?

    Toronto New Line Up

PG Jack/Collison/Banks (Drop like a HP when we can)
SG Barboasa/Derozan/Weems (also see time at SF)
    SF Kleiza/Battier
    PF Bargnani/Davis/Jefferies
    C Okafor/Johnson/Dorsey/Alabi

Houston trades Battier & Jefferies for Evans & Belli + 6.9 TPE and this gets thim under the Luxury Tax (saves them approx 12m in total)

Charlotte finally realizes they need Calderon and do an even swap for Diaw who we flip to
New orleans.( Come on MJ make it right!!)

New Orleans sheds Okafors contract and gives up Collison to do so and in return they get Diaw and 1.4m TPE for Collison and either throw in Anderson (if we can) or throw a little more TPE their way.

We add a couple of defensive guys who can still score, futire PG, a legit Centre and still will have time available for our youngins to play.

In the end we end up with a little better defensive group and will have about $26m in expiring contracts as well as having 4-6m of the TPE and about 4M in Luxury Tax Space.

Any thoughts? BC can you make it work?

No way in hell. Collison is not going anywhere with Chris Paul asking to get out. He may have been on the market a month or so ago but not anymore.

Thanks for the optimism.....that being said even without Collison I think it would be a decent upgrade option and leaves us some wiggle room for later while starting with a more solid base for the season....imo

He has said that he will make another trade or two, but no one has any clue what he is doing, mango kid made a post about tony parker even coming here. BC is really messing up here. He spends all his time talking about bosh quitting, then dosnt let anyone know whats happening. He is making it hard on the players because they dont know who might be going or staying. Think of the mental torture jose must be in because all raptor trade rumours involve him. I bet he is going to be rattled at the start of this season and not play well because of this. Colangelo wants to look ahead, but dosnt realize that his future with this team is decided this season. he NEEDS them to be as good as possible for his sake.

This is a great trade, for US. HAHA. If only... This is like a NBA2K trade, it works, but we can't risk it, we can't plan all these trades, especially if someone bails out. Plus, Collison won't be going anywhere. Well I don't think he will be...

Based on Colangelo's resume, I do not suspect he is just sitting around. I wouldn't let anyone know what is going on either after the way this summer has gone (2 botched acquisitions). As well, the attempted acquisition of Barnes, Chandler, Diaw suggest that Colangelo does not just want to look ahead but realizes this is a big year for him (if not anything else, his #1 pick will be on full display). I find it comforting, although boring, that Colangelo is waiting for the right deal and not just completing something for the sake of pleasing the "Raptors Republic" forum board. We have been spoiled with the ease in which he has overhauled the roster in the past, and I expect it is not that easy. As for Jose, I do feel bad for the guy and hope all the best for him!

You have alot of valid points. The thing i dont like about this off season is that all of those "Botched deals" are probably the only deals that would have helped the team considerably. A good gm makes those deals happen. There is nothing else on the market to go after, if you think he is going to make another deal, i doubt it will help the team that much, if at all. We are in a real bad spot, we need to get rid of calderon, but then banks and maybe barbosa are our back up pgs. If he does make a deal, it wont make the season change.

Colangelo put the deal together and MJ reneged. That says nothing of BC - that says of Rod Higgins for a) agreeing to such a lopsided deal and b) for not checking with the owner before the players are notified. You cannot lay blame on BC for this deal not going through with Charlotte.

BC had a perfect trade in place with Charlotte that WOULD of made our team drastically better. Hell right after I heard about it I was projecting line-ups and getting real excited for the season..

                          Chandler/Bargnani(at times)/Andersen/Alabi
                          Bargnani/Amir/Davis
                          Kleiza/Diaw/J.Wright
                          Derozan/Weems/Barbosa
                          Jack/Barbosa/Banks

Would of been a pretty solid line-up with a lot of talent and very few holes in the team. If BC would of made that trade happen we would no doubt be a playoff team. It's not his fault at all though.. and to be quite honest, MJ got a terrible deal out of everything considering he is still in the market for Calderon.. and if you look at what he picked up.. Dampier is just trade-bait, Matt Carroll is garbage but signed for 3 years I think, and Najera who is washed up for another 2 years at about 3 mill a piece.. MJ made a terrible trade, and what's funny is he rescinded the trade with us for such a garbage deal on the side. Either way.. NOT BC's fault AT ALL
