  • Davis for back up point guard

I feel like we are going to keep the pick and draft a 3 this year, and dont really want us to over pay for dragic.
I feel like there are going to be quite a few better Pg`s in next years free agency, and less teams bidding on them.

However trying out a young PG who has potential to start, and will most likely be a solid back up would not be a bad pick up, especially if by aquiring them we unload the log jam at PF a bit.

If Davis is not used in a bigger deal (Nash, Lowry, Gay etc.) should we trade him for a young back up point guard?

Just some suggestions of back-up point guards that should be easy to pick up:

Nothing fancy here, just wondering what you guys thought.

I like the idea, but by doing this, are you assuming Bayless is not back?

Most fans do not like the idea of Bayless coming back, especially at over 4 million.
I think these players have more potential than Bayless, and are on a cheap contract for another year or two, when we could re-evaluate.

I only like Vasquez from the 3 you brought up, I would not be upset if this trade happened. I don't think it is a game changer though.

Bledsoe for Ed Davis all day long. That would work out for both teams well.

Is it just me or do I see Bledsoe as a 3rd string point guard his whole career. He had a decent playoff run, but his regular season numbers leave me little to get excited about. He is a brutal 3 point shooter in his first two seasons, not great from the foul line, really, he does nothing spectacular. He played off the ball in college, and just does not seem to run an offence with any degree of success. I am a no for Bledsoe.

Hes a strong slasher, decent double clutch layup, great tempo, needs to work on shooting but hes a PG so hes not bad at all for a backup. IQ not that good but will get better under Jose.

9 points and 5.5 assists and 2.6 rebound with 2.2 turnovers in 26 minutes is not bad at all for a backup point, I would be game with a ed for him trade
Whoever told you skies the limit is looking dumb because I'm 22 and i'm moonwalking on the sun.

I like Ridnour. With Rubio's injury though I doubt he'd be available.

I was considering Ridinour, but i wanted to focus on younger players who have not really had a shot of being a starter. Players that still have potential to be a starter, and if they do not improve can be a solid back up.

I dont see Ridnour improving anymore, being that young, or being able to start. He is a great back-up point guard, but I think thats his limit.

Fair enough but the title says backup so that is why I threw out Ridnour.

That is very true, I just wanted to let you know why I did not initially include him.

Another thought, and I feel like I may get a lot of hate for this idea but I wanted to hear your opinions on it.
I dont have any kind of link to it, but I read somewhere that Dallas was very high on Lamb and are looking to trade up.
They dont have very much we would want but this might make some sense.

                          To Dallas
                          #8 pick

                          To Toronto
                          #17 pick
                          Roddy Beaubois
                          Cash considerations

Hearing most of the names people are talking about, (T. jones, Dion Waiters, Terrence Ross, Moe Harkless) are all projected to go around #17, but people think they are going to rise. If they dont, we can take one of them here, and if they all do rise, many other players will fall. We still have a lot of players to choose from since its a really deep draft, and we aquire a young pg with potential to start, or at least be a serviceable back-up. The cash, or perhaps a future pick, is just a bit more incentive.

I would rather trade Davis for a back-up point guard like I suggested, but if he is used and the pick is not, this is another option we should consider.

I'm assuming that is directed at the draft pick trade?
I only included this as most players people appear to be interested in, would be huge reaches at #8.
This is only if there is not a for sure favourite player the Raps want at the #8.
