i was a huge chandler supporter while he was here in china and was very behind grabbing him when he left to go back to the nba. he has fallen down my ladder since the injury and not very good play coming back to the nba. good article though. wouldn't want to give up dd prior to the deadline and don't think chandler is worth him and davis together.

in retrospect if we had of kept the cap space from landry we could have gotten chandler for a prospects package and second round picks, maybe, for finances over there in denver. but then we wouldn't have been able to get nash haha.

    lowry/chandler > lowry/fields to me.

I am not sure I agree Chandler is better than Fields. But if he is better, then it is not by a wide margin, in my opinion.

I think DeRozan and ED is too much to offer. If a 1st round pick came back, that might change my tune but considering that any pick coming back from Denver is likely to be in the 22+ range, then I am not sure that is a great get either. Although with the new CBA, maybe 20-25 draft picks have a new value.

Personally, I don't think another average starter is what the Raptors need or want at this time. I think they wait out this season and see what they have in DeRozan, in particular, and the rest of the team. If Gay becomes available mid-season, then Denver becomes the perfect 3rd team in a 3-team deal as Chandler to Memphis would help answer the question of, "Who can Toronto send back to replace Gay?" The fact Memphis is currently $4M over the luxury tax with an owner who said, "We are not in the business of paying luxury tax" it is a real possibility. Given that this prospective new owner has lost about half of his net worth since March and the markets look ready to collapse within the next 2 months, I am not confident this sale will go through..... but then again, wtf do I know? lol

      Something like this:

      http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=8r5nn3g

with a first round pick from Denver going to Memphis and a couple of 2nd round picks from Toronto going to Memphis would be awesome. It doesn't do much to help Memphis financially much this year but it does save them a lot for next year.

Unfortunately, that is probably not going to happen.... even if it could. Cleveland has had interest in Gay in the past and could offer something like this:

      http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=955vf44

They also have 2 first round picks at their disposal in 2013 (CLE and MIA) and a protected pick from SAC (top 13, top 12, top 10, top 10, top 10) over the next 5 drafts. Memphis is automatically out of the luxury tax and gets a better trade than they would from Toronto.

i would do klezia and davis for chandler in a heartbeat... I don't know why everyone is ready to give up on Demar. I legitimately think he has the chance to be an all-star and has done nothing short of make improvements every year. He is going to be an all-star level scorer this year if he works on his jumpshot (like he has been) and also continues to drive hard in games, if he does that he will be very successful in NBA and also for our organization.

A quick stats comparison on thenbageek.com says Chandler is worse than DeRozan, and far worse than Kleiza. He's like a Kleiza lite who can't shoot. Pass.

PS. That is with last year stats. Chandler was better previously. Some of you may know why.

Even though I'm not in love with DD's game (nothing but a slasher right now, though he's not completely terrible as some people here think), giving up him and ED for Chandler would be too much. I like ED's potential (and DD has room to grow, just unclear if he will). While Chandler may fit I'm not sure he can get much better.

I am not as impressed by Chandler as some. He is another JJ to me. He looks great at times and aweful at others. I am not sure that I would give up and coming talent away for him. I hope the DD genuinely earns that pay raise that everyone is talking about. If he earns it, pay him.

Chandler really isn't that much of an upgrade to be honest. He's not that great of a shooter and just look at his advanced stats they're not pretty either.

Can we just turn Demar into Gay already?

Now that would be an interesting post...

Which one of the Raptors can we turn gay first?

I'm not sold on Davis. I wouldn't hesitate to trade him. I'm 100% convinced he has no future if he stays in Toronto. With Bargnani, Valanciunas and Amir eating up the lion's share of front court minutes, I can't fathom a scenario where Davis turns into the double-double guy some are envisioning. The holes in his game greatly outnumber his strengths, and he won't have an opportunity to correct them as a Raptor.

As for Chandler, he'd instantly become our best SF. Although I'd think twice about including DeRozan in a deal, the wing rotation does get crowded with Chandler, Fields, DeRozan, Ross and Kleiza all capable of playing 20+ mpg. One of these guys would have to be packaged in a deal for Chandler.

However if Gay is still on the radar, I wouldn't want to trade away any assets that Memphis might be interested in (i.e. Davis and/or DeRozan). He's my (somewhat realistic) SF target #1.

I like Chandler, but don't think he's worth DeRozan & Davis, especially since Fields is essentially Chandler-lite. I don't think Chandler is enough of an upgrade to trade DeRozan for. Unless a proven all-star caliber wing like Gay or Iggy is the target, I'd rather keep DeRozan and hope he develops up to his full potential.

DeRozan + Davis + an expiring Calderon (I'd even throw in both 2nd round picks) for Rudy Gay at the trade deadline, with the plan of (re)signing Calderon next offseason to be Lowry's veteran backup PG, would be the ideal plan for me. With Memphis being into luxury tax salary levels, this trade would save them around $10M, while giving them a direct replacement for Gay (DeRozan) and another good young player/asset (Davis), along with 2 2nd round picks (Sacramento's & Toronto's).

The Gay dreams should be over.

If he is available, both Houston and Cleveland can kill any offer Toronto could put forth. The only hope for Toronto is Cleveland or Houston are not interested and have other plans on the trade front or in free agency (Harden for example).

I'm Letter N and I approve this message

Even though I'm not a big fan of DeRozan and especially not of Davis, I don't see Chandler as anything more than a slight upgrade, so what's the point at this point. Even if DD and Davis don't shoot out the lights this year their stock will hardly drop that much because someone will still take a gamble on a young SG that gets to the line 7 times a game, and Davis can be the freebie we throw on the trade, like a 2nd round pick basically.
