* Weltman will receive a significant bump in pay in his new job with the Raptors.
Some NBA officials claim Weltman will be paid more than $1 million a year for the next five years. That is almost double the amount most assistant GMs are paid.
Now go hire Ron Adams!
Heard an interview with him on fan590 this evening. As usual these hockey centric bozos gave the guy what seemed like about 6-7 mins. and then said bye to him. He seemed pleasant enough but non committal about the immediate plans but interestingly has the opinion that in the NBA world Toronto is considered a "cherry" franchise and to be looked out for if it starts a winning tradition. Grange & Friedmann interviewed him and as usual nothing particularly incisive.
Always wondering if Toronto media portray's MLSE members as boring and crap with their inability to ask intriguing questions, or is it a ratings thing where Torontonians are stupid, or not informed, and they have to ask bland questions in order for people to understand what's going on.
I think the later.
I would be pissed as a coach as well when financial trades are taking priority over basketball trades.
I don't think it would be a problem in Toronto though - if the statements of TL/MU are to be believed about deep MLSE/Rogers/Bell pockets.
