When will we learn that BC isn't about addressing actual issues. He's a quick fix guy. Nash will increase revenues across the board while making us marginally better. It's his contract year and he wants to please the board. What better way then giving them huge increases in revenue, filling the seats, PR boosts, and perhaps a playoff appearence. 3 years down the road we will start "retooling" again. It's what this team is about.
Signing Nash for 3 years gives the Raptors a 3 year window to find the successor at the point. At the same time, having Nash man the point guard spot will allow our young players to grow. Think of guys like Joe Johnson, Amare, Q Rich, Grant Hill, Shawn Marion, Marcin Gortat, Leandro Barbosa, etc. Nash needs to be given some credit for making them look good, allowing these players to realize their potential, develop confidence and grow as players.
On the business side, signing Nash would bring credibility to the franchise, fill up the seats and have other players / markets take notice of the Raptors. It's a wonderful marketing move that will pay dividends for the franchise.
The biggest difference with Nash and Jose is Nash's ability to make something happen regardless of body position, regardless of what hand is controlling the ball, the ability to go left or right and break his man down without using a screen. Nash also is EXCELLENT at advancing the ball via pass leading to transition opportunities, which fits perfectly with our young athletic wings.
There are many reasons why Nash would be beneficial for our struggling franchise in both basketball and business perspectives.
Agreed don't see how getting an average player like Lowry/Dragic is better than 3 years of a future hall of famer, that is 38 but the fitness level of a 25 year old.Quote:

I was and am a big proponent of signing Nash.
HOWEVER, I always thought around $10M per year. $2M is not a HUGE difference but it is a difference (20%).
If the Raptors do this, I hope it is via sign and trade. If not, the off season is over unless someone is amnestied and say good-bye to the Barbosa TPE, MLE, Bayless' rights, Gray's rights, and Weems' rights.

Nash should only play about 30-32 minutes per game. That is a lot of backup time for an undrafted rookie.

Sprinkle in some solid vets like Grant Hill (Nash connection), Jamal Maglore, Aaron Gray and a third string PG and that looks legit. No idea if it's even a possibility with the cap but it would be a nice roster for Casey to work with.

Way too excited about the idea of Steve Nash playing Toronto. I really feel we have a great chance of landing him. I also read somewhere that BC had Wayne Gretzky on speed dial to plead Nash to play for T. Dot?
They are really serious about going after the 38 year old, but he has so much game left, fitness level of a 24 year old, one of the best point guards today and ever.
Make it happen BC. If this goes through, I see a contract extension.

Nash earned nearly $12 million last season and averaged 12.5 points and 10.7 assists for a team that, with no 20-point scorer, nearly snagged the last playoff spot in the West.
Nash was born in South Africa but is a Canadian citizen and was even hired in May as general manager of the Canadian men’s basketball team.
This process will take better shape Monday, after Deron Williams meets with the Mavericks and Nets. If he makes an immediate decision about his future it should clear things up considerably for Nash, who has not set a timetable for finalizing his future plans.

Really open minded guy, but a video also stated that Toronto is in the driver's seat, with the money, story-line, roster, management, connections, the want for a three-year deal..
