If I'm right, don't we have to draft 1,2 or 3 or not draft?
not this year. we have to blow next year then get Wiggins
013 first round draft pick from Toronto
Toronto's own 2013 1st round pick to Oklahoma City via Houston (Top-3 Protected and 15-30 Protected in the 2013 Draft, top-2 protected and 15-30 protected in 2014, top-2 protected and 15-30 protected in 2015, top-1 Protected and 15-30 protected in 2016, top-1 protected and 15-30 Protected in 2017 and unprotected in the 2018 Draft. [Houston-Toronto, 7/11/2012 and then Houston-Oklahoma City, 10/27/2012]

Most likely Raps draft no one.
come on guys we can't give up yet
15th pick! ...Wow, for once its much better to just barely hit 8th seed, rather than fall into the lottery!
mediocrity is our only philosophy. always do everything half assed.
All we need is to reach the playoffs and everyone will be happy - we'll have longer offseason, a chance to draft someone, both Casey and BC saves their jobs :D
Unless the Raptors are guaranteed to make the playoffs every year between 2013-2018, the best idea might actually be for the Raps to be the best team to NOT make the playoffs, thereby surrendering the #14 pick in a very weak draft.
PICK WILL BE TRADED IF...
2013: between #4-14
2014: between #3-14
2015: between #3-14
2016: between #2-14
2017: between #2-14
2018: between #1-60
- it could very well be the worst pick to giveup (best, from the Raps' perspective)
- it would remove the uncertainty around the pick, allowing GM/scouting/etc... to better plan for the future
- it would put future 1st round picks (starting with 2015 pick) back in play for potential trades, giving BC yet another asset to work with
- it would mean the Raps were in a dogfight for the playoffs (good for fans and players), but just missed, which would make the team that much hungrier next season
Obviously I'd love the Raps to be a perennial playoff team but, if they're ever going to miss the playoffs in the next 6 seasons, it might be best to miss them this season. There are definite, tangible benefits of doing so.

Good points and I agree with you.
Im hoping now to barely miss the playoffs. ughhhhh I wanted to cheer for playoffs this year too ):
Though making playoffs for 5 seasons in a row is not impossible... :D
Chad Ford from the Maui Invitational on the 2013 draft, making the Lowry deal look in a very positive light:
SourceQuote:
This is a down season, talent-wise, in the NCAA. “If Cody Zeller, Shabazz Muhammad, Nerlens Noel and James McAdoo are your top four picks, it’s going to be an ugly, ugly draft.” Other than McAdoo, I couldn’t find a scout or GM convinced there was another first-round prospect here. If Kabongo plays, that could be two. But that explains, in part, why the field is so weak.
You guys have to realize what a unique talent this guy is...
Bargnani has such a special skill set for a guy his size. We just have to harness his potential, and with a little more time, and a few breaks our way, Andrea Bargnani can be the focal point of a Championship offense in the NBA.
Everyone here has to forget this negativity, and just have faith that Bryan Colangelo has a fantastic conception of this team's potential, and its direction. We are slowly, but surely, building towards greatness here. People are panicing way to early right now.
What guys, I mean, we're only like 12 games in here. Sure, things aren't going as well as expected. There have been injuries during the last two years, but we are trending in a very positive direction.
DeRozan, Bargnani, Kleiza, Fields, Amir Johnson... These are great blue collar, lunch pail type of players, who are just such a solid core to build around.
With Lowry, Valanciunas, Ed Davis, and T. Ross, we have budding HOF'ers who are going to push this roster into contention.
Just stay positive you guys... This is a very well managed team, with some great pieces at bargain contracts. Every team short of the Heat and the Lakers are jealous of the Raps you can bet that!!
Go RapS!
I still like Archie Goodwin.
