Indeed. 5 years make sense when bringing in a guy who's supposed to bring a fresh perspective. It takes time to reshape a roster smartly...At least it usually does.

I agree. This type of deal allows Ujiri to take a long-term slant to his roster moves, knowing that he isn't in a 'must win now' situation. While I don't think this means a complete 'blow it up rebuild from scratch, aka tank for Wiggins' rebuild is coming, I do expect a pretty significant retooling to begin immediately. I think they strive to win as much as possible right now, while also thinking more strategically about the next 2-4 years.

@WolstatSun: If Woj is correct that Dwane Casey is staying as coach, tanking unlikely and work to be done to rebuild relationship with Lowry

    Default Finally.

Bring on the off-season already. You know he's gonna shake things up and put his stamp on this thing right out of the gate.

Lowry was at odds with the suits in his last gig as well.

Huge news, seriously, considering how obviously great Ujiri is at being able to deal and trade players and acquiring assets and tools for a team to use right away, this'll be a great situation for both him, and this team.

He will have a HUGE challenge though, but he did acknowledge that would be the biggest reason he came. Andrea Bargnani's situation needs to be fixed, something needs to be fixed about the contract situation - possibly dealing Bargnani, DeRozan, Fields, MAYBE Gay - and obviously coaching staff needs a shake-up, more so on the offensive side of the ball. Team also needs a bench, and picks to go along with trying to win now.

Again, I'm not totally optimistic this team will be jump-started right away, but now, I have a good feeling this team is heading in the right direction. Good young core pieces in Valanciunas, Ross, DeRozan, Gay, Lowry, Acy, Johnson, a good set of eyes with Ujiri to create/re-tool this roster, and a proven executive willing to spend and also be patient with Leiweke.

For Uijiri maybe. BC already got called out by Leiweike.. he has no choice but to collaborate.

Expect this to be a slow process. Not an enviable task to clean this mess up.
