Lay off Landry Fields. He's the Raps best perimeter defensive player by a mile. And he's another one of those guys that i feel like they're misusing.
the only times hes been 'useful' is whenever they just throw him in the starting lineup against the knicks. other than that, theres really no 'misusing' a player that just sucks whether its due to injury or otherwise.

Landry Fields has got to be in Masai's cross hairs. For a GM like MU, the Fields contract has got to be keeping him up at night.

Not really, no. Fields has a bad contract, but not a historically bad contract: $6.25 million is only about $4m over what he's really worth right now, and it's only for one more year after this one so it's not even a long overpaid contract. He had an awful season last year in part because of an undiagnosed injury, which everybody knows, so if he plays even tolerably well on offense this year he instantly becomes tradeable because his defense and floor knowledge are quite good (and he's got a good locker room rep) and everybody knows that too.

Basically; without his shot, Fields is a $1-2m player being paid 6. If he finds his shot again, he's a $4m player being paid 6, which is far from the worst overpay in the world. If he regains his rookie form then he's actually maybe worth the 6.

And for all we give props to Masai, let us remember it was Masai who resigned Javale McGee to $44 million over four years. Masai makes mistakes just like everybody else does, and Fields isn't nearly as bad a mistake as McGee.

If Landry can regain anything close to his old shot success he is a nice player to have. He moves well off the ball, rebounds very well for a wing and is a solid defender.

No doubt. This poison pill shit must've been on his mind since day 1. As much as I lauded the Fields signing from the get-go, I hate it from a financial standpoint.

Okay, perhaps my "keeping him up at night" comment was a bit over the top, but I hope you get my point. It's a bad contract and I beleive that MU is likely looking at Fields' contract as the one he wants to shed next. If he's getting paid $6 million and is worth $2 million the writing is on the wall imo.

I think I'm in the group of few who actually like Landry. He seems like a great locker room guy, and if his injury was really what was holding him back, I see him as our Sefolosha-esque player.

I like him a lot too.

Still think they overpaid even with a healthy elbow.

But if the can do all the things he did last year plus get his jumper back, he is a solid player.

He is still relatively young as well - just a year older than DeMar.

Landry Fields 2 years ago was on the NBA all-rookie team and had a nearly 50% fga with a 39% 3Pga. I believe that he started quite a bit for the Knicks as well. This typically is not an accident including his all-around play. Sure some players drop off but we also know about his very real physical issues. He needs at least a good portion of this upcoming year before the Raps make a decision on him. The contract ...he got lucky that the Raps were gunning for Nash and the Raps gave him the deal to "distract" the Knicks.

Landry's contract isn't nearly as bad as Rudy's is and is far less problematic for the team. I think Rudy is the #1 issue, not Landry.

I'm sure Landry is a great guy, and fun to have in the locker. Frankly he comes off as being a joker to me and the type of person I use to hang out with when I had a life before the wife and kid. However, my comment is based on Ujiri's actions this off season. He's seems to be keeping the core to see what he has there, but trimming what is not part of the future ie. bad contracts and signing small, cheap contracts to fill the holes. He's neither blowing it up or making a run at the playoffs at the moment, but only getting us under the cap. With this (to me), as his main goal he has to be looking at the Landry Fields contract and asking himself how he can possibly move it. As others have mentioned here Fields is the ideal candidate for the sterch provision, but only if Ujiri see's him as part of the future. Otherwise he's just another problem for Ujiri to solve.

Personally, I think the Gay contract is much more of an asset and easier to move.

If Landry wants respect he needs to stop being a scrub, and if Raps wanted a comedian we would have signed Russell Peters to do stand up routines at Half-Time.

His wife's face looks too square to me take your eyes away from the curves and boobs for a minute and stop thinking about what an awesome time you'd have nuzzling the breasts and just ya shes not that pretty.

She's definitely a looker. But I couldn't pick her out of a crowd on a beach. It's a very generic "hot blond" look.
