This week's episode of the hilarious television program The Mindy Project had a nice speech about teams needing to be made up of people who've been given second chances.
Naturally this made me think of James Johnson, Lou Will, even King Kyle.
That's when it hit me: THE CHARACTERS OF THIS SHOW ARE MOST DEFINITIVELY ALL BASED ON THE TORONTO RAPTORS ROSTER!!!!
If you don't believe me, then you better pull out your ticket.
The Truth Train is about to pull into the station:
Mindy Lahiri / Danny Castellano= DeMar DeRozan / Kyle Lowry
Your big two. These are the stars of the show but, in the bigger picture, are not really superstars. Friends from the moment they met.
Mindy, like DeMar, is always underrated yet somehow each season she seems a little funnier than the last. This leaves you wondering why back in season 1 you were so sure the Mindy/DeMar project wasn't going to work.
Where Mindy/DeMar is always going on about Drake, Danny/Kyle is hyper focused on his core value of hard work. For his their first few seasons Danny/Kyle let this bulldog attitude screw things up, but now they’ve finally learned how to use it to strengthen their relationships, both with Mindy/DeMar, and their team.
Morgan Tookers= Jonas Valanciunas
The big goofy dude. So loveable. So underused.
Jeremy Reed= Amir Johnson
Your glue guy. Seemingly always hurt by something. Invaluable to keeping the team running in peak form.
Peter Prentice= James Johnson
If there is any character on this show that can “cock back that joint and bang on them” it’s your brah Peter Prentice. Now he just needs a sweet neck tattoo.
Instant offence/comedy gold: “These babies are like, ‘Get me out! It’s my birthday!’ and I’m like ‘Babies! I know!’”
And one more:
Rhea Pearlman as Danny’s Mom= Chuck Hayes
The invaluable veteran presence. A shorter than expected force of raw physics and wily craft.
