Apparently he never checked himself into Rehab... he's back on the run...

Honestly, I don't get the feeling this guy even wants to help himself.
And that's the first step in any of this. He has to WANT to change.
Having experienced alcoholism in my life (not myself but in someone within my extended family) one absolutely needs to want to change in order for it to happen. Actually wanting to change isn't often enough, sometimes its forced change that is required (ie. hitting rock bottom).

If one has never experienced or witnessed it in their real life it can easily seem so close to insanity that people think it must actually be stupidity. In fact while you are witnessing it it seems like near insanity. Watching someone lose their job, their money, their girlfriend(s), and distancing themselves from their family while absolutely not being able to comprehend that its their own actions doing it (either blaming someone or something else for events each and every time - even their own 8 year old child!) is just crazy.

Then you watch them stop drinking - get a new job, get a new girl, have money again and watch them repair their relationships and then bam! Cycle starts over in the exact same way it did before

the problem with alcoholism, or any kind of addiction for that matter, is that the substance itself is rarely the problem.. anybody can stop doing something, but they rarely deal with the underlying issue of WHY they drink (or smoke/inject/snort/etc)... and often times, they're so far gone that they consciously don't even remember themselves..

it's my true belief that in order for any kind of change to actually have any lasting effect, a person needs to reach a certain level of catharsis.. you need release, and realize that at some point you decided to chase after something unattainable, whatever that may be, and you haven't accepted that it is in fact unattainable... and all you've been doing is digging a deeper and deeper hole for yourself

once you can purge yourself of whatever bullshit you've piled up on your soul, realize whatever the fuck you've been chasing is a load of horse shit... and being where you are, who you are, at this very moment, is a totally fuckin awesome thing.. then you're at a place where you can say "oh ya, I don't need booze(or drugs).. i'm totally good"

or at least that's the reason I haven't stepped foot into a strip club in 2 months

Lamar Odom is fighting for his life after falling into unconsciousness at Dennis Hof's Love Ranch South in Pahrump, Nevada ... TMZ Sports has learned.
Sources at the Love Ranch tell us ... 35-year-old Odom arrived at the Ranch on Saturday and was partying with the girls for days. A source at the Ranch said Lamar was taking an herbal substitute for Viagra.
We spoke with Hof ... who tells us on Tuesday afternoon, a woman went into Odom's room in the VIP suites and found him unconscious.
We're told the woman began screaming for the manager -- who quickly called 911.
The manager rolled Lamar over on his side and saw "mucus-type liquid coming out of his nose ad mouth."
An ambulance took Lamar to Pahrump hospital, where doctors intubated him ... an indication he could not breathe on his own.
We're told Lamar is being airlifted from the hospital to Las Vegas for more treatment.
Our sources tell us, "It's not good."
          Story developing ...

          jeez.

poor man. if he makes it out of this without brain damage i hope he gets off the drugs. if that isn't rock bottom he will have to literally choke, near to death on a cock, for a quarter gram of coke before he hits it.

Oh god, this is rock bottom for him for sure. I'm hoping he gets back on his feet, but looking through the thread, not too much hope unfortunately.

Looks like the herbal viagra may have been the primary culprit (in conjunction with other drugs).

Think the Crack and Heroin may have contributed more than boner stuff.

Extended Brothel Stay+ Multiple Hookers + Class 3 Drugs = DGAF

At least his cow ex-wife is bringing a camera crew to his bedside

He's probably done tons of coke and opiates before, maybe not combined with ten tabs of herbal garbage which messes with your blood pressure and more.

Yup, watch the effects after hard drug use renders a man brain damaged in Keeping Up on E! Not sure if the Transgendered father makes a cameo this season.

Whoa is me, I'm a crack-addicted ex-NBA baller who made millions-upon-millions of dollars. Not to be cold, cuz I hope he makes it out OK, but he's squandered a lot up to this point by making terrible life choices.

Rather go out snorting heroin off a hookers ass then being 90 wishing I could get at least one erection one more time before I die

And he wouldn't be the first. Nor will he be the last. Its an absolute shame. The media has completely glorified his downward spiral (as they have countless times in the past), the Kardashians are just using his tragic circumstances to boost ratings, and he's having his character defended while unconscious on his death bed by a legalized brothel pimp. I feel so completely sorry for Lamar, and so completely upset over the lack of anybody actually trying to just help the guy.

The NBA and NBAPA needs to step up to the plate and offer these guys a support community that won't just look for a handout, but actually care about their well-being. It doesn't matter if you have millions or billions of dollars; if you haven't been educated properly, and guided appropriately, in terms of handling this ridiculous amoutn of wealth/attention. I know the NBA has rookie programs, but honestly, they really need to do more. In my opinion.
