  • ESPN #NBARank - Guess the Raptors rankings

ESPN will be conducting it's Player Rankings (#NBARank) next week. For fun let's guess who the top 14 Raptors will be in order. If you want you can put a player ranking beside them but that might be too difficult to determine with 450+ players in the NBA.

Here were the rankings from last year:

    Gay - 32
    Lowry - 51
    DeRozan - 112
    Augustine - 147
    Fields - 164
    Hansborough - 174
    Novak - 176
    Amir - 207
    JV - 234
    Daye - 245
    Gray - 287
    Ross - 307
    Acy - 448
    Buycks - unranked

    Here is my guess:

    Gay
    Lowry
    DeRozan
    Hansborough
    Amir
    JV
    Novak
    Daye
    Fields
    Gray
    Augustine
    Ross
    Acy
    Buycks

I don't think ESPN will give JV (nor Amir) the love they deserve. Novak coming from NY will probably raise his stock, as will Hansborough coming from Indiana.

My guesses below with approx rank

        Gay - ~45
        Lowry - ~85
        DeRozan - ~90
        JV - ~110
        Amir - ~150
        Hansborough - ~190
        Novak - ~190
        Ross - ~200
        Fields - ~250
        Augustine - ~260
        Acy - ~270
        Daye - ~270
        Gray - ~290
        Buycks ~350

        Some comments:
        - People want to write off last year of Landry as an injury .. but lets not forget how historically bad he was. I wouldnt be surprised if hes one of the biggest droppers in this whole thing
        - JV had a very good summer league .. expect him to move up a lot (maybe not enough to get his full due .. but a lot)
        - Lowry drops quite a bit .. he had a lot of buzz going into last year and was mostly a disappointment. Not that hes a bad player .. but people were projecting a lot more

Summer league doesn't count. You get 10 fouls.

NBARank is voted on by a huge panel of various basketball writers. Perception is what matters, so anything that affects how people see him "counts".

exactly. People arguably saw more of JV in summer league than last year when most Americans could care less about the Raps games ..

Exactly, 10 fouls in a game is too many.

If it's ESPN writers, I bet Gay slips a shit-ton. They've just been steady hating on him all offseason

Yep, i expect the same. You can at least double his last year's rank.

                      I guess:

                      Lowry - 60s
                      Gay - late 60s / 70s
                      Amir - 80-100
                      JV - 80-100
                      DeRozan - 100-120
                      Novak - 150-200
                      Hansborough - 200-250
                      Ross - 200-250
                      Augustine - 300+
                      Fields - 300+
                      Gray - 300+
                      Daye - 400+
                      Acy - 400+
                      Buycks - 400+

Related: three Raptors in SI's top 100 NBA players list: Amir at 84, Kyle at 81 and Rudy at 64. Jonas made the "tough choices to exclude" list. Super unlikely that DeMar is in the top 50, to put it lightly.

435 is already higher than OP had him projected.
                            1-0 Raptors Fans. Haha

If you mean the first post, those were last year's results.
