If he isn't he might have fallen off the radar, so we could maybe scoop him up with 37.
Wonder if the teams are sent a list of players to rate, or just go from list of draft eligible players. If the first, then Inglis was probably forgotten by Ford somehow.

wish we knew what was up with vasquez/de colo before we go PG at 20. Smart to go best player available regardless I guess, I'm just hoping that player is James Young lol. Surprised he is in our range on the latest mock drafts, was projected fairly high(11-16) until recently. Anyone know what happened with him? Someone could make a good argument for Young being the BPA at 20 but with Derozan and Ross being similar type players it would create a logjam of athletic wing players for the Raptors.

Create a big hype in Summer League (all plays must be drawn up for Young to have lay ups with no1 around... or he ll jump shoot his leg and lower his value)

DanH wrote: View PostVery raw, very young, has only been playing for a few years, and is already a big difference maker. Give him a few years developing with an NBA staff and you've got yourself a player who could be REALLY special. High potential reward pick at 20. I'm on board.
He could be a perfect compliment to JV if he ever adds a shot to his game.
The draftexpress.com video is a little bit of a contradiction. On the one hand they question his intangibles and call him lazy. On the other hand they say he has a nose for the ball and runs the floor.
The kid hasn't been playing long but like DanH said, he is already a big difference maker. His ups and ability to contest shots are insane. His FG% is crazy. At first I was thinking, oh great, this is another Johan Petro. But look at their stats and videos and Capela certainly makes the case he is the real deal.
The skills and abilities he has are the hardest to come by in the NBA. IF he is available at 20 I'm rooting for him.
Desperately would love another 1st round pick too.

Scraptor wrote: View PostChad Ford posted his tiers a couple days back and I don't know if it was posted, but it was pretty staggering to me. He talks to GMs and scouts to get a sense of what the tiers are for all the prospects. Each tier has a pretty specific description, so that draft classes can be compared across years.

full list here: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?p=9016484
Amusing that according to him there are 20 players in the top 4 tiers, and we pick #20 so we are guaranteed a top tier player - i.e., a solid starter. Let's hope our pick turns out that way.
The 12 players in the top 3 tiers, who should all be off the board by the time we pick and if not they are BPA, are:
Embiid, Parker, Wiggins - Exum, Gordon, Randle, Saric, Smart, Vonleh - Harris, McDermott, Stauskas
There are 8 players in the fourth tier. We get the last available of:
Tyler Ennis, Rodney Hood, Zach LaVine, Jusuf Nurkic, Elfrid Payton, Adreian Payne, Kristaps Porzingis, James Young
And there are 20 people in the next tier ... which means some of them will be still on the board when we have our next pick. If anyone does reach down into the next tier, including us, Chad Ford thinks it will be to take one of the following. According to him BPA is still whoever is left in the list of 8 above.
Kyle Anderson, Clint Capela, Cleanthony Early, P.J. Hairston, Shabazz Napier, T.J. Warren

Elfrid Payton or Ennis and Capela and I'd be a very happy camper!

I brought him up ages ago but I'm really liking patrick young for our late second round pick if he's still there. Probably not but if he is you gotta take him
He's like a but taller chuck Hayes. Would love to have him as a backup c because he's known for his amazing post defence. His body is probably the most nba ready of any player in the draft. But again just like chuck Hayes, he has absolutely no offensive game.
He could come In and carve out a quick niche as a defensive specialist for guys like Demarcus cousins and other big c for when jonas is on the bench. There's also Big Ben comparisons for him which is amazing. So his ceiling is like Big Ben lite and his floor is probably a poor mans chuck Hayes. I say roll the dice, and I'd rather see him in over chuck Hayes at this pointI'm back. I no longer worship joe johnson

As you say, his offense is terrible, but I also wonder about his defense. He spent his entire at Florida in the zone defense...can he still have a defensive impact outside that system?

Aaron Gordon has the same birthday as me ... I'm EXACTLY 10 years older than him ... Ugh ... I feel old all of a sudden.
Apparently Gordon could go as high as #5 to Utah or #6 to Boston. If Kings are looking to trade, one of the "Big 7" might drop to #8.

-- Cavs guard Matthew Dellavedova went undrafted, yet was one of the top rookies of the 2013 class. Here are some guys who could do something similar (go undrafted, then contribute in the NBA) in 2014: Michael Mayer, 6-9, C, Williams (N.C.); Billy Baron, 6-2, G, Canisius; Patrick Miller, 6-0, G, Tennessee State; Bryce Cotton, 6-1, G, Providence; Kendrick Perry, 6-0, G, Youngstown State; Shawn Glover, 6-7, F/G, Oral Roberts; Aaric Murray, 6-10, C, Texas-San Antonio.

Amico has a new weekly column with FoxSports.
I like him as a journalist. One of the better. Seems to have good contacts too. Nailed Bennett last year at #1.
Anywyas, interesting observation above.
