      • It's weird how when you get older the draft becomes more exciting than christmas...
You come at the King, you best not miss.

Eh, apparently he's a little lackadaisical on court, and can sometimes get down on his team mates.
I don't mind the latter, show's he's very, very competitive. Leaders like Kyle will put him in his place if he acts out. The former, well it can be something that hangs around but it could be due a number of factors like playing in a weaker league etc.

If those are his major "attitude" issues then I'd be more than willing to take him.

The Boston Celtics continue to look at all options leading up to the NBA draft which includes landing the No. 1 overall pick. A league source has told CSNNE.com that the Celtics have engaged the Cleveland Cavaliers about acquiring the No. 1 overall pick in Thursday's NBA draft. CSNNE.com -
            - Yes.. trading up for the number 1 over all pick armed with what ???. You can have anyone on a roster that went 25 - 57 and the 6th pick.

Keith Langlois: SVG says even with time spent on FA & draft, well more than 50% of his time has been devoted to Greg Monroe's situation.
Brilliant insight. The Pistons don't have a pick in the 1st round of the draft so all they have is Free Agency. If SVG is spending 50% of his time on it he must be spending the other 50% of his time at Mo's Bar or staring out the window.

You can't make this stuff up and its only Tuesday. Can't wait for Wednesday night or Thursday morning reports from sources. Knicks trying to get first overall pick from Cavs with offer of magic beans !

Its now Wednesday and here is this gem

Joe Kotoch: A league source believes Chris Bosh will opt out but is not sure Wade will. "Bosh can still get a max deal, D-Wade no way." Twitter - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.vRFACp6v.dpuf

This guy actually said Chris Bosh could get a max contract. Maybe in the Adriatic League. As Shaq called him .. The RuPaul of Big Men... put up these stat lines in the finals when the chips were down.

            Game 5 13Pts - 7Reb ....
            Game 4 12Pts - 4Reb
            Game 3 9Pts 3Reb ..
There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

            • Bosh could probably get a max contract. The role he's playing in MIA suppresses his numbers. Whereas Wade is just done.

You probably shouldn't use that Shaq quote as evidence he can't get a max contract, since he said that before Bosh signed his last max contract.

But honestly. Bosh was being used the wrong way in Miami! They just made him a pure jump shooter. I honestly believe he will land a near max to Max deal with Miami or Houston

                • 1. The Celtics can essentially offer all of their draft picks stored up for the #1. That is a lot of draft picks. They can throw in a selection of Jeff Green, Jared Sullinger or even Rondo to boot. The Celtics have a lot of assets, and if they can convince Cleveland that the best use of a #1 pick Cleveland wasn't expecting and doesn't necessarily need is asset accumulation then they are easily the best option.

                  2. The Pistons are trying to trade into the draft using Smith or Monroe as part of a deal. Which is what they should be doing. Smith's value may be fairly low right now, but then again Bargs had nil value last year and that ended up being three picks. Besides which, Smith has value in the right system.

                  3. Bosh can EASILY get a max deal. A mediocre Finals (and 13/7 for the Heat's designated third option isn't that bad, because Bosh's job is not to fill the stat sheet) doesn't change the fact that Bosh is one of the few elite two-way centers in the league. Dallas will offer him a max deal more likely than not. So will a few other teams.

i said it in another thread about lebron. doesn't this just open up 40 million dollars to get players before they resign for max deals using bird rights?

so now they get melo and lowry

Nope their cap hold will prevent Miami from signing anyone before Bosh and Bron make up their mind on their next deal

but how do unrestricted free agents have cap holds? that is what i don't understand. if they become ufa they aren't completely off book and the team loses bird rights?

No. We have Bird Rights for Lowry, and he's unrestricted. So long as the player is coming off a contract (or combination of contracts playing for the same team) at least 3 years in length, their team has the player's Bird Rights. Only if you renounce your rights to a player do you a) lose their Bird Rights and your ability to exceed the cap to re-sign them and b) free up cap room by removing their cap hold.

                            Good counters !

The Celtics Draft Picks this year are 6&17. Next year they can offer their own first which will be a lottery pick anywhere from 7 to 12. The other 1st pick in 2015 is Philly's but its lottery protected and if Philly lands in the lottery again (high probability) its becomes a 2nd. THey also have a high 20's pick from the Clips. Sullinger is a bit of a problem with his back, some brushes with the law and that we went wild over Kyle Anderson body fat being at 13% Sullinger just might make him look in shape. Jeff Green is 3/4 and Cleveland appears to have cornered the market on those types. Irving has argueably more value than Rondo right now. Ainge is just blowing smoke.

2.Monroe is not under contract for next year and pretty sure CBA says you can't trade him. Joe Dumars signing of Josh Smith likely cost him his job. He has to go to a cap friendly team and those teams tend to be wretched and are looking to the future. Josh isn't the future. He does have value in the right system its just a pretty thin aperature on that ven diagram.

3.We are just going to have to disagree on the Bosh max deal. Its subjective on my part and yours. Right now he can collect 40M over two years guaranteed. While anything is possible I don't share your view that the probability is high that CB4 could attract a 3 year 60M deal or 4 year 70-75M deal anywhere in the NBA unless those millions were paid in Lire.

                              • James Young has great size, if he has a work ethic like DeMar he could become really, really good. 6'7 with a 6'11 wingspan. Hes also a good shooter.
