    Default Marshall to become available

oakafor and picks going to Phx for brown, Marshall, gortat, and lee. Looks like Washington will be waiving everyone but gortat. Marshall could be had for peanuts. Given what I have seen from dj augustin this preseason I would rather let Marshall have that time. Seems like he would be a natural team general...I think of him as a young Calderon.

Dude can't shoot. Reminds me of Mateen Cleaves: he's got the bball IQ, and you want to believe--but he just can't cut it at the NBA level..

Gortat is a really nice piece for the wiz. They're going to have a heck of a decent, young team.

No thanks.. he's had plenty of time with a bad team to learn the game and still can't really do it. Not everyone can play in the NBA.

MIA, IND, CHI, BKN, NY, ATL, WSH

    7 playoff teams right there.

Raps fighting with Detroit, Milwaukee, Cleveland, maybe Boston, maybe Charlotte for 8th

I think Detroit will be better than the Wizards this year.

Interesting to see the market for a (protected) 2014 pick

I'm curious what the full extent of the protections are.. is it just protected for 2014?

No thanks lol Marshall is awful. He even sucked in the D-League PHX is just trying to move him while he still has some value as a project with a potentially big pay off somewhere down the line.

    (The Next Steve Nash) LOL

Raptors are going to finish 6th in the East...I still don't see Washington as better than us.

    I disagree.
    Just comparing players IMO
    Wall>Lowry
    Beal> DeRozan
    Ariza Nene=Amir
    Gortat>Valanciunas(currently)

Plus with a bench of Maynor, Porter, Webster, Harrington and even Seraphin, they could be very good this year. The only way I see the Raptors being better is in terms of injuries. Washington has a very injury prone team but a healthy Washington will be better than Toronto this season.

I totally Agree with you. I don't even see New York finishing better than us. Detroit is a going to surprise people also!

I am right with you. Marshall left UNC one year too early, which means he needs seasoning. He shot 46.7% his sophomore year with 9.8 assists per game. A change of scenery can often do wonders for young players. He's certainly tall enough to play good defence and I know he has the drive & the smarts.

ESPN reporting that the Wiz are going to waive Marshall along with Shannon Brown and Malcolm Lee, so if the Raps want him they can have him.

He's better than DJ Augustin, I guess?

Washington is taking a gamble with Gortat - albeit just a 1 year gamble. He originally suffered a season-ending 'Lisfranc sprain' in March (mid-foot torn tendons & possible broken/cracked bones) - that's supposed to take 6-8 weeks to heal - but he was still having pain this summer and had to go for additional treatment in Aug before he could play with his National team in Sept. He seems to be okay in preseason - but foot injuries are the bane of NBA big men - big arthritis risk - can lead to chronic pain in the injured joint. Don't want to see him come down on someone else's foot this year.

Kendall Marshall is a project - he might turn out to be good, but he isn't likely to help anyone this season. No, Marshall is not as good as Augustin - at least not yet

Washington already has Nene, Booker and Seraphin - a team thats looking to, and expecting to, win now and trades a guaranteed to miss games injury (Okafor) for a possibly injured (Gortat) is not gambling. They are hedging.
