    Default An Ode to Acy

    Acy, oh Acy,
    We hardly knew thee,

You were the less popular choice,
    Of the Quincy's from Baylor,
But your hard work each day,
    Showed each naysayer,

We glued you to the bench,
    For almost every game,
    Even though your positive play,
    Was always the same.

    Heart, Hustle, Beard,
    You are a man's man,
    We all salute you for,
    Doing the best you can.

    We hope you'll forgive us,
    For shipping you with Gay,
We had to get rid of him,
And you the price we pay,

    Sacramento is nice,
    At this time of year,
    They might even play you,
    Or so I hear,

    We wish you the best,
    A true holiday devine,
    Into Raptors lore you enter,
    A "what if" for all-time

DJ Augustin. A 2nd shout-out should be to Buycks for his move (far left)

With Acy's beard gone, Casey no longer has a place to store his clipboard :|

Man, every year, the fan favorite gets traded. Good luck Quincy!

I watched a Raptors game with my mom one time -- she thought Quincy was Harden.

Its funny because the fan favorite is always a scrub. And scrubs get moved around the league a lot. Maybe if a fan favorite could actually be a productive player who is important to the success of the team, then they's be kept.

This is the raptors were talking about here. Let's just get one player who is a productive player first

Someone wrote an article in Sportsnet magazine talking about exactly that, how people in Toronto are so quick to love the flawed overacheiver who makes up for talent with energy and determination but we completely pick apart every player who is legitimately a star until they feel unappreciated.

Ya, it's a weird phenomenon, and only seems to affect Toronto.

Acy, Pops, Reggie Evans, JYD, Bonner, etc.

Meanwhile, Carter, Bosh, DeRozan, etc. get shredded.

This topic needs some more analysis.

I am honestly drawing a blank on this one. Can you name a couple say in the last 10-15 yrs....legitimate stars who griped at unwarranted treatment. I did not read the piece but agree fully with the first part...I think mostly in part because so many wanna be divas walk thru this town.

Inferiority complex. Low franchise esteem. Where's Dr. Phil when you need him?!

Or is it management/media's fault for always forcing the team's top player into the role of 'franchise player', even when they're best suited (talent-wise and/or personality-wise) to be a 2nd or 3rd banana on a legitimately good team? There's been such desperation to make this franchise relevant in the Toronto/Canadian/NBA marketplace, that we fans have been guilty of worshipping false idols, so it's no wonder they start believing their own hype.
