        • **Heads up to mods: there are two 2014 Free Agent threads, this one and link below**
          http://www.raptorsrepublic.com/forum...ree+agent+2014

BasketballINsiders.com (old HoopsWorld.com) have a comparison of 2014 free agency versus 2015. Since Raps basically are stuck with no cap space if they resign Lowry, Patterson, and Greasy, it might be worth looking ahead:

          2014:

          Notable 2014 Unrestricted Free Agents:

          Early Termination Option:

Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Andrea Bargnani

          Player Option:

Tim Duncan, Josh McRoberts, Darren Collison, Glen Davis, Danny Granger, Chris Andersen, Anthony Morrow, Mo Williams, Rudy Gay, Channing Frye, Zach Randolph, Nick Young, Andray Blatche

Currently in Final Year of their Contract:

Dirk Nowitzki, Lance Stephenson, Pau Gasol, Paul Pierce, Jerryd Bayless, Kris Humphries, Andrei Kirilenko, Shaun Livingston, Luke Ridnour, Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng, Spencer Hawes, C.J. Miles, DeJuan Blair, Vince Carter, Shawn Marion, Aaron Brooks, Rodney Stuckey, Steve Blake, Jermaine O’Neal, Andrew Bynum, Jordan Farmar, Jordan Hill, Chris Kaman, Jodie Meeks, Mike Miller, Beno Udrih, Ray Allen, Shane Battier, Michael Beasley, Mario Chalmers, Greg Oden, Ramon Sessions, Dante Cunningham, Al-Farouq Aminu, Jason Smith, Greg Stiemsma, Thabo Sefolosha, Emeka Okafor, Boris Diaw, Kyle Lowry, Marvin Williams, Trevor Ariza, Marcin Gortat

          Notable 2014 Restricted Free Agents:

Avery Bradley, Greg Monroe, Evan Turner, Eric Bledsoe, Isaiah Thomas, Patrick Patterson, Greivis Vazquez, Gordon Hayward, Jordan Crawford, Ed Davis, P.J. Tucker
          2015:

          Notable 2015 Unrestricted Free Agents:

          Early Termination Option:

          Thaddeus Young, Jared Dudley

          Player Option:

Jeff Green, Brook Lopez, Gerald Henderson, Al Jefferson, Monta Ellis, Roy Hibbert, David West, Chase Budinger, Kevin Love, Arron Afflalo, Goran Dragic

Will be in Final Year of their Contract:

LaMarcus Aldridge, DeMarre Carroll, Paul Millsap, Louis Williams, Brandon Bass, Rajon Rondo, Kevin Garnett, Marcus Thornton, Gary Neal, Carlos Boozer, Mike Dunleavy, Anderson Varejao, Samuel Dalembert, Wayne Ellington, Brandan Wright, Will Bynum, Omer Asik, Omri Casspi, Jeremy Lin, Luis Scola, C.J. Watson, DeAndre Jordan, Steve Nash, Marc Gasol, Kosta Koufos, J.J. Barea, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Ronny Turiaf, Tyson Chandler, Nick Collison, Kendrick Perkins, Jason Maxiell, Jameer Nelson, Ronnie Price, Gerald Green, Robin Lopez, Wesley Matthews, Dorell Wright, Jeff Ayres, Marco Belinelli, Austin Daye, Manu Ginobili, Danny Green, Tony Parker, Landry Fields, Tyler Hansbrough, Chuck Hayes, Amir Johnson, John Salmons, Jeremy Evans, Andre Miller

          Notable 2015 Restricted Free Agents:

Pero Antic, Mirza Teletovic, Bismack Biyombo, Kemba Walker, Jimmy Butler, Kyrie Irving, Tristan Thompson, Jae Crowder, Kenneth Faried, Quincy Miller, Kyle Singler, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, Patrick Beverley, Nick Calathes, Norris Cole, Brandon Knight, Khris Middleton, Ricky Rubio, Alexey Shved, Iman Shumpert, Reggie Jackson, Tobias Harris, Doron Lamb, Kyle O’Quinn, Nikola Vucevic, Marcus Morris, Markieff Morris, Joel Freeland, Derrick Williams, Kawhi Leonard, Alec Burks, Enes Kanter, Glen Rice Jr.
          Their take:

Names like Love, Rondo, Afflalo, Millsap, Jordan, the Lopez twins, the Morris twins, Jackson, Shumpert, Faried, Harris and Kanter are more likely to join new teams if they are given big enough offers. So while the biggest names may be technically hitting free agency this upcoming offseason, it may be in 2015 when significant free agents will actually be available to teams looking to make big signings. This is why teams like the Lakers and Knicks may forgo adding any major salary this offseason and hold off for 2015. When looking at the talent that will be available during these next two years, the biggest names will technically be available in 2014, but there will likely be more talent that is actually on the move in 2015.

          • The people who made the list made a mistake.

They put Andrea Bargnani in "Notable Free Agents".
            The name's Bond, James Bond.

I thought the exact same thing when I read that. LOL.

              • Taj Gibson. He's not an FA any time soon, and I know the Bulls are really high on him, but if we could get that guy here, that would be awesome. He's the one PF in the game that I am sure could emulate Amir's defensive ability while upgrading the offensive aspect.

                  He is notable because:
                  1) he is a former #1
                  2) he is coming off a big contract
                  3) he plays for the Knicks
                  4) he is a brutal underachiever

I would not be surprised if his NBA days are finished after next year - by his own choice. I think a team will be willing to give a guy like him a chance because of his unique abilities. However I don't think he will want to take that chance. Guy just has no passion for the game.

                  • Having Bargnani there looks funny because of that company. "Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Andrea Bargnani"

I'll be surprised if Bargs just quits while still healthy and able to make millions. But I won't be surprised if he ends up in Europe. He was dominant the last few times he played for Italy. He could probably get more in Europe. Some Euroleague players make more than NBA midlevel. Well, on paper they don't, but in reality they do because of how taxes and bonuses work.

                    • Why isn't Chandler Parsons on the list? He's my top target for our long term SF. His contract is up after next season, so he should be with the Unrestricted Free Agents of 2015. Kinda ridiculous Bargs makes the list but Parsons doesn't.

Somebody stupid like the Bucks or Kings will give Bargs $6M+ per year. Hell, the Knicks might even resign him.

Parsons would be great, and he might not be on the list because he could be a free agent in 2014 of 2015.

Gibson is on a decent long-term value deal ($8m per year through 2016/17), he's probably going to win Sixth Man of the Year and the only reason he's "sixth man" is because the Bulls needed Carlos Boozer's scoring at PF for most of the year. The only reason Chicago would trade him is if they plan to bring in Nikola Mirotic and Gibson becomes redundant, but that won't happen until Mirotic proves himself in the NBA - e.g. no earlier than halfway through next season - and then Chicago will extract a steep price for Gibson to say the least. I think any plan to "get" Gibson involves us overpaying.

There is a 0% chance Parsons is a free agent in 2014. That means that Houston turned down their team option for $965K.

It must be an oversight due to Parsons 2014-15 being a team option and unrestricted the next year, which isn't really common these days. Most 2nd round picks are restricted at the end of their deals. For instance, Singler was a 2nd round pick the same year as Parsons and he is a restricted free agent after next season. I guess Parsons bargained in the extra freedom for taking such a shit 4 year deal.

Yeah, really an interesting situation with Parsons.

If the Rockets pick up his option for next year, he is unrestricted in 2015.

If they decline his option for next year, he is a restricted free agent in 2014.
