With an eye on the next 3-5 years, you really wouldnt want Bosh, Faried, Sanders, Anderson or Monroe over Amir?

I hope Amir reads this site, because he would be flattered as hell ...
I think Faried there is the only one that I wouldn't want over Amir. I love Amir, and he's so strong around the rim, but a lot of these guys offer great skillsets too.

Also did you watch Jefferson last night, he's formidable in the post.

I actually think this is one of those rare cases where Raptors fans have been spoiled.
Amir makes very few mistakes, and cleans up everybody elses.
He's becoming Kevin-Love-like in his ability to snatch up rebounds and get up shots in the paint.
And he would fit in just about anywhere.

He's like a good musician when they join in a jam.
He finds what's missing, and fills that gap.
Much more useful than a really dope guitar player who wants to play solos over another guy's solos.

That's why I like him over a number of those players.
They may be more talented, but they are not necessarily going to help your team.
I do admit that the players you bolded have the potential to be far better players, but they aren't yet.

Even in a vacuum, Amir is better or equal to a bunch of them
I would not trade Amir, straight-up, expecting my team to win more, for:
    - Lee
    - Boozer
    - Jefferson
    - Faried
    - Sanders
    - Monroe
    - Anderson

I wouldn't say he's clearly better than any of them, but they are toss-ups.
They give you one thing, he gives you another.
His thing is uglier, but often it is more effective.
I think I agree with that. It's close to a toss up with those guys - Amir's still underrated and less well known than some of them, imho, and I could understand people picking either way for varying reasons.

Chris Bosh isn't aging well. Miami's mixing things up to try to get his productivity back up there. I've actually thought they've got him trying to play an Amir Johnson role - and with Amir's ever increasing range, he could actually be more effective in Miami than Bosh. Bosh's only advantage at this point would be his ability to attack his man one-on-one - he just hardly ever does it anymore.

All this for nothing it appears..... shocker!

    Tim W. from main page:

If you’re a fan of any player on this team, it’s likely that you’ve been worried at some point that the player is going to be traded. Well, some good news if you’re a fan of Jonas Valanciunas or Amir Johnson. Kevin Bryant reports that those two players are safe:

Source confirms that Amir Johnson and Jonas Valanciunas are not being shopped by the Raptors. Both are “absolutely” safe he says.

    — Kevin Bryant (@KevinRashidi) December 19, 2013
I have checked with him and his source is NOT the guy at the ticket counter, but a “guy who’s well connected around the league.” So there you have it.

Don't think he's untouchable, but especially when you factor in what a great contract he has, I doubt Ujiri gets anything close to a good offer.

Ya last season I started following him on twitter and he had some pretty weird evaluations of players...he has started to say things and try to back them up factually more and more now.

Its good to hear Amir is safe...I would be perfectly happy if he turned into our very own better version of Nick Collison. At the very least it makes other GM's have to offer more to pry him away from us

I would be extremely dubious of this report. I'm fairly certain he has minimal sources and whatever source he may have I suspect to be giving 3rd or 4th hand information

Whether the report is good or not, this isn't shocking.

This is only shocking if you value a player based on how often American analysts discuss them.

This is a good comparison, but only in respect to his role on a team.
He is already a much better player than Nick Collison, but I don't think that was your point.

I really think a lot of folks overlook the chemistry element of basketball when they evaluate a player.

Absolutely. Nick is a fan favorite and he is that guy that plays hard in his role and was a great mentor for the young team through the rebuild. Amir can be exactly that guy

Plus he is way more talented than Collison

Amir untouchable? LOL. I really doubt it.

Kevin Bryant is just a fan who tweets everything the Raps insider tweets but then he'll add the word "source" on his tweets. Like he has one. Hilarious.

Long story short. A couple of months ago i tweeted a possible trade that i could see the Raps making. And then this guy just tweeted everything that i tweet and then added the word "source" on his tweet. Comical.

With Atlanta having right to swap picks with Brooklyn and then Atlanta's pick going to Boston, do the Hawks push on without Horford to do as good as they can?

How about Amir for Brand, Schroeder and 2015 1st (right to swap with BKN)?

After 9 pages of hyperbole and tank rhetoric you are all ignoring the elephant in the room.

Masai is on a 5 year contract.

Dealing amir for a Draft pick would only extend his rebuild beyond that point. As much as he's done so far for this organization why would he take a step back?

Amir to me is the most valuable player on the roster because of his attitude and sense of belonging. You see it in his play and his interviews pre and post game.

Character like that is un-tradeable especially for Draft pick hypotheticals. But to not stray away from the OP question. My answer is LeBron James.

I think this is perfect answer to end this thread and also understand why this team has not been in play offs in so long
