This deal has to be done as 2 trades:

    Trade #1

    To OKC - Salmons

    To TOR - Perkins

    Trade #2

To OKC - Hansborough & 2014 2nd round pick (OKC)

To GS - Lowry & Jones

    To TOR - Barnes & $6.2M TPE & $3.2M TPE & 2014 1st round pick (lower of OKC/DAL)

    OKC
    - Salmons is a veteran scoring wing they are allegedly looking for
    - Hansborough is a younger, cheaper replacement for Perkins
    - they can keep Lamb (since Salmons is likely only a 1 year rental) and trade Jones instead
    - if Hansborough & Salmons are waived ($1M guarantee each), they would save $8.53M next season
    - costs them a 30 spot downgrade at the draft (flip their 1st round pick for 2nd round pick), but save guaranteed money associated with 1st round pick

    GS
    - get Lowry, who they're rumored to want
    - get Jones as young backup SF, to replace Barnes

    TOR
    - flip Lowry & Hansborough & Salmons & 2nd round pick for Barnes & 1st round pick
    - also get 2 additional TPEs
    - add Perkins $9.4M expiring contract for next season, but could be a decent mentor for JV and an adequate backup C

    * if GS needs a little more sweetener, they could get either a future 2nd round pick or Novak (Jones would need to be acquired using a $1.1M TPE, which would go to OKC) from Toronto

Barnes for Lowry/Perry Jones is a very bad move for the Warriors. Giving up Barnes just doesn't work any way you look. Who has a better contract? Barnes. Who's better for them long term? Barnes. Who's better for them short term? Barnes. Barnes is a big minutes young healthy promising player. Lowry is a rental who's not used to the system, and who had his share of character and health issues. Jones is a nice sweetener but nothing more in a deal like this.

If they want Lowry, I imagine they would offer a trade exception and sweeten it with some 2nd rounders or Draymond Green or some other mediocre prospect.

Now I'm not sure about OKC. This deal lets them use their midlevel next summer. Hansbrough is also a decent backup. On the other hand, they aren't over tax this year or next year, so they aren't desperate. And Presti likes his picks and youth movement. So, I don't know if they'd be interested or not.

As for Salmons, he's a D-League caliber player. He is a worse player than Jeremy Lamb. If OKC wants to get a veteran upgrade over Lamb, they are probably thinking of players like Afflalo or DeRozan.

      .
The short-term value of Barnes in the team is debatable. Barnes is getting a lot of minutes due to injuries and not because he is productive. The team need a PF if they want to contend this year with Lee and Bogut. It makes sense to trade Barnes for a PF and a PG like Lowry if the warriors are looking to win now.

But the trade looks weak to me. OKC will never trade perkins, Jones and a pick for a rotten salmon and psychoT. they will demand nothing less than a legit young C like Val.

Terrible trade for both OKC and Golden State.

Yeah OKC might want to move Perkins' deal, but they need to get back a player who can actually play the 5.
