    Default Nets Becoming Sellers?

    http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap...rs-At-Deadline

If the Nets begin to dismantle their team at the deadline, is there anything the Raptors would want?

This. Maybe Bogdanovic? but that's about it lol.

Anyways, if this is true, then i guess the battle for the Atlantic is now between NY and Toronto. And yes, i still think NY is the best team in this division. Not really mean much i know lol.

Why would they dismantle it now? Atlanta owns their pick. It would be the most stupid thing I've seen from the Nets yet.

Maybe "sellers" means that they'll move Brook Lopez+assets for Omer Asik or JaVale McGee or something. I.e. get better this year.

They were offered Lin/Asik for Deron. They probably should have done it.

That's brutal! LOL! Saying they're a mess is an understatement right now.

Not necessarily a stupid thing. The do have the talent that could net back a good pick plus......

I think they can still be good. Other than make some small changes they must replace their Coach with a more experienced one.

Their best two pieces are D-Will and Brook. Brook just had his second major injury. D-Will has 80 mil guaranteed that will last till he's 33, and he's already having injuries and out-of-shape issues for several years in a row. And there were attitude issues in Utah, so I expect any small market team to be very cautious. The best case scenario is probably they call the Lakers and maybe get their pick somehow, but the lakers wouldn't even be able to trade that pick directly right now.

Lets say they manage to get that Lakers or someone else's mid or late lottery pick somehow. Lets say it even ends up being an all star caliber prospect. Then what? They'd still be a crappy team with little flexibility for several years, and no pick of their own for the next 5 years. It would take some GM of the Year type of management for several years in a row just to turn them around. More likely they'd be bad for half a decade or more.

They'd probably lose everything they worked for over the last few years. New York fans, image. Their chances of getting the next DWill to sign there would likely be diminished a bit too.

So they might as well suck it up and bet on their current players. At least they know that their players can be pretty good when healthy. Bad as they may be right now, they aren't likely to get a better core for years.

Obviously neither of their best players is tradeable for a good return AS OF NOW. They will be though. That's when you work a trade with focus on the future.

For now, I think a coaching change will help a great deal.
