Since this has become the de facto "bring a superstar to the Raps" thread....thought I'd post this here as well (ESPN insider that I can't access, so this is the snippet on realgm)

    http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap...NBA-Head-Coach

More of a snippet that's on hoopshype's rumors page:
Raptors conspiracy theorists must be having a field day!

Big time ownership with deep pockets... check

Big time management with big time vision and success.... check (TL)

    Drake... check

VC... stay tuned, could be back next season

Coach Ollie... stay tuned, the current coach's contract happens to be expiring after the season

Cap space in 2016 offseason... check, as of today

whether or not we hire a new coach depends on two things:

    playoff performance;
    and roster turnover.

If Lowry leaves, and MU trades DD for future assets, may as well hire a new coach.
If we keep the team together, then no point on changing for the sake of change.

Just thought it was worth posting. He could be a good coaching find regardless...but if they do, say, hire him this offseason, it'd make it pretty obvious they will at least make some kind of push for Durant.

Whether or not we hire a new coach depends on only 1 thing - what MU thinks of DC. Nothing else matters.

Well but part of that is also what MU thinks of replacement options. Ujiri could think Casey has done a fine job, and still prefer someone who he thinks will do a better job....but if the latter isn't available (in his opinion), then he obviously won't replace Casey. And of course, if he just doesn't think highly of the job Casey is doing, he will just replace him regardless of other options.

Exactly. Which all boils down to what Ujiri thinks of Casey.

Guys, it's gonna happen alright. We have to move past it and figure out who else is coming.

well actually everything depends on vladimir putin. because if he bombs toronto, there won't be a raptors team anymore.

    lol, obviously.

but i'd make a bet that two tangible indicators of whether he'll be gone are playoff performance and player turnover.

If we lose a couple players and Lowry and if we have a bad playoffs, i'd put heavy money on casey being gone.
