Since we're playing Indy:

"The Verticality Rule" makes no goddamn sense to me, in the way it is enforced. Why is it OK for Hibbert to jump straight up and let the offensive player slam into him inside the restricted area, but if he doesn't jump, he'll get a blocking foul?

Basically, the restricted area is a stupid rule.

It shouldn't be a foul if the guy stays grounded either. It should be a no-call. Any situation where the defensive player has established position, regardless of where he is on the floor, should not result in a foul as long as he is not leaning in any direction, whether he's on the ground or in the air.

*bottom line, nba officiating is fundamentally bad

Yeah, this is how I interpret the rules too, but I rarely see a play where this is called properly. Ridiculous.
