Isn't anyone concerned about his 5M per salary? If having Fields and Novak at the end of the bench for what they are getting paid is such a concern, then why would anyone want another overpaid player to just sit there?
Fields and Novak's salaries aren't a terrible concern. They're gone by the end of next season, and everybody complaining about them is really just being a drama llama; neither salary is so enormous that it's deeply problematic, and we don't really have anything to do with that money in the 2014 offseason right now since there aren't any major stars worth signing (and we can re-sign Kyle/Greivis/2Pat if we need/want to). The only thing they actually do make problematic is us taking on larger salaries of players a la John Salmons and those are mostly tank moves anyway, so we're not doing that.

Similarly, Bennett's salary isn't guaranteed past the end of next season anyway, so we would have a full season to evaluate him, let him develop and give him room to grow. Bennett has significantly more upside than Fields or Novak does.

And thats what you're going to get from him at the moment...a nice warm seat. Trading for Bennett is insane, there is no way to get him on the cheap, because he isn't cheap himself. Trading him for Novak and/or Fields is the only thing that makes sense from a TO perspective, and that isn't gonna happen. Including Demar is just bad asset management IMO.
Solely for developmental purposes I presume. It's all about potential. We already know what we're gonna get from Fields and Novak, but Bennett's ceiling is much, much higher if he puts in the work.
