  • Jameer Nelson

Once we can trade Vasquez come february 10, we could try a deal like this:

Greivis Vasquez, Steve Novak, Austin Daye and Julyan Stone for Jameer Nelson.

    Why would Toronto do it?
-Have a great PG duo to make a run in this year's playoffs
-Be sure to have a legit starting PG for next season
-Have plenty of money to spend come summer 2015

    Why would Orlando do it?
-Get the rights to a young, promising and kinda already proven PG in Vasquez
-Completely cut ties with the Dwight era
-Get young players on 1 year deals with team options
    -Get a 3 point specialist

What do you guys think about it?

I think Orlando likes it because they get younger, but they also lose capspace, no?

Yeah, a bit. Not that much, though!

This is interesting. Jameer as a bcak up? He will run an offence, plays hard, and can shoot. He is Lowry lite, JUST what you need in a back up.

I love the idea of getting Jameer as a backup, he'd be perfect (as long as he doesn't mind coming off the bench).

I think Orlando needs to get more back though. One or two second rounders.

The problem is that there's nothing in it for Orlando. They give up the best player in the deal, they get 4 scrubs and they take on 4 mil in 2015-16. Greivis Vasquez is neither young nor promising, and even if they liked to try him as a backup for some reason, they can just sign him this summer. No team will take on 4 mil in 2015-16 just so they can have Greivis Vasquez for an extra few months. They'd ask for a 1st to do this.

A 1st? What if we offer them some 2nd round picks?

We never know of course. Maybe the 2014 Sacramento 2nd (+something) would do it, being a high 2nd pick. But there are many cases where teams got a 1st round pick for helping someone clear 3-4 mil in cap space.

Either way, it would be about getting some picks out of it, I don't see them having any interest in those players.

If it's second rounders, I think I'd do it. Nelson would be nice, and that cap space in 2015 could go towards an offer to Chandler Parsons or maybe even someone better.

Anything to solve the back up PG problems, anything.
We dont need Novak or daye anyways so be my guest
What they got to say now? Nothing they can say now. Mobbin' on the low. Winnin' on the low

I would like to add that Orlando would probably be able to trade Novak again to another team.

I like this trade, we add Nelson who's terrific as a backup option behind Lowry and we won't be regret for losing Lowry to free agency and have Nelson as our starting PG next year, awesome trade without losing any of our key guys although will be missing Novak's 3 point shot though but nonetheless, decent trade if are to make a 2nd round playoff push. On top of that, if we can flip Salmons + future 1st (2016 NYK's 1st round pick) for Wilson Chandler, it would be very nice and acquire Thad Young + Lavoy Allen for Amir Johnson + Fields.

                      Lowry/Nelson/Bycks
                      DeRozan/Ross
                      Chandler/Hayes
                      Young/Patterson/Allen
                      Val/Hansborough/

Maybe for another bad contract. The Knicks got carried away with that contract.
