Collins to me is like a throwback to the big lumbering centers that didn't seem particulary good at anything who were everywhere in the 90's, tbh I'm surprised he lasted this long. Maybe he was a good defender at one point.

Ideally I want a younger, more mobile center to backup JV.

I just don't see why the Raptors would be interested in Collins. He's a veteran big which would be nice to have, but I think Hayes is doing a pretty good job with that role already.

The reason to consider Jason Collins is that he's a good defensive center, like Hayes, but he's not 6'6" like Hayes; he's a legit 7-footer, and for a defensive center that makes a big difference. Hayes is scrappy and works his ass off, but that extra half foot makes a big difference.

Plus by all accounts he's an excellent teammate and he'd be a cheap option for a final big on the roster.
