Default What is the deal with these deadbeat coaches?

I think it is fair to say we all dislike Triano at this point. We were all calling for Colangelo to go out and hire an experienced coach. Of the ones that were available, though, they have all appeared to be flops. Eddie Jordan is about to lose his job this off-season and Flip Saunders should be getting more from an admittedly crappier Detroit team.

Well, now this offseason, even though Colangelo cannot really fire Triano because he is already paying Sam Mitchell, we will all be wondering: who can we hire to replace Triano? Well, we are going to have to look harder this time around, because Flip and Eddie likely would be just as bad.

And I hope I am not alone in thinking this: I just hope beyond hope that our defensive “specialist” Marc Iavaroni is not handed the reins, especially when it is his defensive schemes that are so terrible right now.

Triano's not been great, but just like Mitchell, changing the coach will not be enough. You might see improvement, but it won't be meaningful improvement. The defensive make-up and offensive/defensive balance on this team is off and it needs to be fixed by the GM. Can't keep blaming coaches.

There's One guy who Ithink can acually do well with these players AVERY JOHNSON, his team in Dallas played good Offence but also played great Defence. But would he want to come here ? thats the quesion.
BTW Flip is actually coaching the Wiz not the Pistons.

I'd be interested in giving Tom Thibodeau his head coaching debut.

Certainly we can't ad infinitem. But all I am saying is that it is remarkable that there were these coveted coaches that we were all begging for, and their jobs are as on the line as Triano!

Not that Triano is doing a good job, because I think he making a lot of rookie mistakes...but what happened???

I agree, I would love to see some defence out there. If we can trade for, sign anyone who feels like hustling on D is a good thing. But, having Skiles would be good too.

If the Toronto Raptors had Scott Skiles as their head coach they would have won 46-50 games this season.

That is how much of an impact I think he would have had on the Raptors defense.

A team's defense is single greatest area where a coach can have his biggest impact.

Avery is a bit chancy...I think he is too much of an orator...works for awhile...unless he has changed....but a good motivator.
My own preference would be a Lawrence Frank or a Byron Scott. Both unemployed right now, good on defense and accountability but wont come cheap.
And no more rookie coaches please.

JVG is the ideal choice in my opinion. Avery Johnson reminds me too much of Smitch and I feel he'd produce the same results that Smitch did, which isn't necessarily good.

If we really get another coach next year, that means Bosh will leave. Too many coaching changes and if you get a new coach, let's say SVG, you have to BLOW up the team again to look for another Scola, Battier, Larry Johnson, "pre-feed-my-kids" Sprewell, etc.
