    Higgdale nailed it.

I would have liked his first post in this thread a dozen times if the capability to like it that much was available. Nothing else needs to be said, other than what is in that post.

I would rather a guy not shoot at all over shooting 6 times and having the other team get the ball five times on misses, which they then turn around and get baskets on. Fields doesn't generate misses, because at this point he only shoots layups, little 4-5 foot floaters and dunks. On the flip side he defends like a demon. The Raps could have used that over the last few games.

[Casey is not going to play Fields even if he had no injuries. He just doesn't appreciate his game. The raptors are a jump shooting team and Casey's system is not geared for diagonal cuts at which Fields is one of the best in the league. The players the raptors got from Sac are jump shooters before they are anything else and play on the perimeter. The raptors don't look for cutters because the offense is about pick and rolls, pick downs for jumpers, screens for jumpers or swing the ball around for jump shots or 3s. Just look at where the majority of the assist come from in the offense. If you saw the Golden state game when Fields started for an injured Ross you saw what he brings to the table. He played defense on Klay Thompson who went ( 4-15 ), took a charge on Steph Curry and set a pick so Lowry could get a shot off that he made. Because Fields has a high basketball IQ he read the defense and made 2 back door cuts for a dunk and a reverse lay up in which all of the Golden State players lost track of him especially Curry. He pulled down 6 rebounds one that was an offense rebound to keep the possession alive and had 8 points on 4-5 shooting. Those who would only want Fields to play over Salmons if he found his shot are over valuing what's has never been his biggest asset and fail to see what a good all around player can do to help a team win. He didn't take shots he had no chance of making had a steal and no turnovers in 24 minutes and you beat the number 6 team in the west. Why your coach would jump Fields over Salmons for an injured Ross and then say at the Golden State post game press conference that he commends Fields on his professionalism for not playing in a long time and being ready when he was called upon and then not give him any minutes since that game is perplexing at best. In the last 9 games Salmons is 14-45 from the field and is 3-15 from the field the last 4 games with 8 rebounds and 0 assist. So why was Fields good enough to start over Salmons but is not good enough to get any of Salmons minutes even on a back to back?. Fields is a movement kind of player and is at his best when things are chaotic or at a fast pace so he can make decisions on the fly. Casey's system doesn't encourage that kind of skillset. The last lob Fields got for a dunk that counted was when Jose threw him one not that he can't do it Fields and Lin did it all the time when they played together. Remember the raptors are not in the position they thought they would be at this time so Casey won't rock the boat he'll continue to play Salmons over Fields.
Best post I've read in a long time. Well Salmons won't be here next year so hopefully Fields will get playing time then because I don't see Masai being able to get rid of Fields. We'll see. But this is just more proof that Casey is an idiot. I don't know how many more times I could say that.

I think this settles it, at least for the immediate future: anybody over Salmons.

LMAO I had the biggest heart attack and I didn't even watch the fucking game. I read Salmons was inconsolable after the game and he should have been. I don't even feel sorry for him. That was a HORRIBLE loss and everyone especially Salmons should embarrassed. Exciting game but terrible loss.

Honestly I don't even blame Salmons that much. He was brought in cold after what must have been forty minutes of real time given that he last played at the nine minute mark of the fourth.

What I'm more concerned about was how we let an eight point lead slip away with forty three seconds left. That is just... bad.

Well someone would have had to come in cold. If you can't play Terrence (and he would have been cold as well) all you have is De Colo or Landry and both would have been cold. Also Salmons is a BIG reason why we lost so how can you not put some blame on him? If he inbounded the ball into the right people's hands this probably wouldn't have happen (I believe both Kyle or Demar would have hit both free throws or AT LEAST 1). And if he hit two free throws like he should have we would have won. The only other person who can take some blame is Kyle because it seemed like he took a bad shot after Durant's first 3 from reading the play by play on espn. But those 3 threes that OKC took were very well defended. The only fault you can say is maybe we should have double teamed Durant to take it out of his hands. But I think a good bit of the blame goes on John.

I don't think Salmons can even hold Fields jock strap. Don't understand the Casey love for Salmons. What ever he gives you on the offensive end he more than gives up on the defensive end. Earlier this season, Fields was the man they put on LeBron to hold him down. The Raps are missing that kind of defensive specialist these last 30 games. FreeFields.
I think this person said it best.

Fields would have tried to pass the ball if it was him that stepped up to shoot those free throws. Both he and Salmons can go, but I still take Salmons over Fields still.

its not like salmons is drummond-level free throw shooter. hes a career 80% from the line and still 71% with the raptors. it was just really unlucky that both didn't go in and EXTREMELY lucky that durant and fisher nailed three back to back 3's to ice the game. overall, we shouldn't have lost an 8 point lead with less than a minute to go but thats what happens when you have a superstar on one team and you don't on the other.
