you did make a sweeping statement describing 'everyone'. I can assure that as far as dreams come, this existence is shallow.
I think, in so far, as to have the freedom to do whatever you could possible want to, that IS everyones dream. Maybe not the Girls, and Cars and Boats etc. But to be able to whatever you want, whenever you want, IS the "American Dream", No?
Not to mention, I think its a little staged.
If you watch this video...
While he denies it's "staged", he basically just says its all for the fans, and because people seem to respond to it. He hires the girls from Modeling agencies and Talent agencies.
I've always thought this was set up by the "Poker" Powers. Get people talking about the glamorous side of gambling, and what it can bring you.

It takes this culture specifically to decide that access to as many material things as possible is equivalent to "whatever you want".
It is not a shared idea in places where Honour, Respect, Family, Knowledge, Skill, and Personal Growth is described as the stuff people want. Money cannot get you any of those things, and I feel that they bring a much deeper satisfaction in life.
Therefor, if someone asked me what my dream would be, I would claim that the accumulation of knowledge is my dream. I would rather know more things than own more things. You can tell that money is not going to buy this man a brain chock-full of expertise. In this case, he is NOT living my dream, rather he is living a really shitty life if accumulating knowledge is one's goal.
If only the American Dream was relative to the spiritual growth of people...
