  • Game #5: Brooklyn Nets 113 - Toronto Raptors 115 (Raptors Lead Series 3-2)

    KEYS TO THE GAME:

    1. Need another quick start.
    2. Terrence Ross - Time to step up.
    3. Contain Deron Williams and JJ - Raps did a great job back in Game 4, keep it up!
    4. Need another big game from DeMar and Kyle - This time of the year. Your best players need to be your best players.
    5. Hit OPEN 3's - Salmons, Patterson, and Vasquez missed so many WIDE OPEN 3's in the 1st half last sunday. Time to knock it down. And please Amir, don't shoot 3.

    I would add

    6. Need to find a way to attack the trap BKL's been using against us
    7. Attack the paint (not just our bigs) where BKL has no rim protection...This is related to 6, since it's been evident all series their D is trying to prevent us from getting inside where they're pretty terrible. We are successful pretty much every time we do.

#6 is likely the biggest coaching adjustment for both teams that will go a long way to determine who wins this game. Whatever coaching staff does a better job in this particular aspect of the chess match will put their team in the best spot to win. When 2 teams are so close (like they have been all season), coaching can make a huge difference. Let's hope Casey and Co. are just as ready as the players. Looking forward to seeing how this one plays out.

Was waiting for this to start. Good job. There may be many keys to the game but the overall one is this. Follow the pattern. Game 1. Big game. Nets win. Game 2. Raps adjust. Raps win. Game 3. Big game. Nets win. Game 4. Raps adjust. Raps win. Game 5. Big game.... Its' now a best of three and if the raps wait to adjust, they can't win. They've got to find a way to strike first. Kidd, fwiw, is already talking about "bring on the double team for Joe Johnson". Gotta think that if we can remind the wings that there is often at tall gentleman who is only three feet shorter than the basket, hanging around said basket, that may be a move the nets haven't seen yet.

We need to pounce in the first quarter. Take the lead and keep the pressure up for full 48 minutes.

                      Keys to the game:

#1 - Play inside out, rather than settling for contested long jumpers. Punish their small unit down low and ideally get them in early foul trouble (I'd attack Pierce specifically, since he's undersized defensively).

#2 - Share the ball, don't force the offense and don't play into the defense's plans.

#3 - Play 9 or 10 guys if need be, to keep the legs fresh, especially on the defensive end. Use youth, speed and ball movement to tire them out.

This team has played decent defense this series, last game probably being the best. We need that again, a full 48 minutes of suffocating defense.

                            Go Raps!!
