Damn, what's with giving large long term deals to rookie coaches?
The name's Bond, James Bond.
Kerr and Fish both played PG under Phil Jackson, who will be the next rookie coach Smush Parker?
The sad thing is that Popovich who is arguably the best coach in the league makes $6M a year.
$6M a year is a huge amount of coin for overseeing a group of men in short pants trying to get a ball to go through a metal hoop.
As a 17 year vet in the NBA, he gets 1.4 Mill. As a rookie head coach he gets 5 Mill?
Average wage for an NBA coach is around 3.7 Mill. The coaches making less than 5 Mill are: Casey, Stevens, Clifford, Kidd, Thibodeau, Carlisle, Brown, Shaw, Vogel, D'Antoni, Joeger, Spoelstra, Drew, Brooks, Hornacek, and Malone.
The closest example of going from a player to HC is Kidd. Except Kidd IS a future Hall of Famer. He makes 2 Mill while Fisher is going to make 5 ?! This lacks logic.
All these rookie head coaches like kidd, kerr, fisher. Whats next? Vince Carter head coaching the Raptors?!?
They are inflating coach salaries with such contracts, doesn't mean anything good, how Thib, Vogel or Spoelstra are worse than Fisher?
I have to imagine Fisher wasn't very keen on taking the job, until he saw $5M.
