Also chandler parsons, Isaiah Thomas, Kyle singler in 2nd round.
Guilty as charged. One of the reasons why Colangelo wasn't a very bad GM (not worse than Badcock). Smart move by them too on letting him play it out in Europe and continue developing there, rather than coming here on a shortened season, with very high expectations and demanding fans who don't want Hofa/Bargs 2.0.
However, I was pissed that we gave away that late 1st rounder for James fucking Johnson, when we could have drafted Cory Joseph with that pick. Oh well.

With what we know now, Leonard would be the choice. JV is good, but not that good.
A true big that can finish around the rim, has a developing post game, alter shots and has a little jumpshot is more game changing than a lengthy 3&D player that isn't great at creating his own shot.
Give JV some time, and I guarantee he will be a franchise player or at least a #2/3 on a championship team.
Big men take time to develop in the NBA. Its only been his first playoffs, while Leonard has been in back to back Finals and WCF the year before.
For all its worth, Leonard has been looking good on offense in the Finals because the defense is worried about everyone else. Tony Parker's drives, Tim Duncan in the paint, Ginobili, Green for 3.
JV is a work in progress. Leonard is already on lofty ground.
I was hoping we picked Kawhi or Kemba. I followed SDSU that year because I'm a fan of their coach (since his days coaching the Fab 5). I knew that Kawhi, at worst was going to be a defensive specialist who could guard 4 positions. Remember those huge hands!?
Kemba was just clutch.
That said, I was stunned that Jonas dropped. The only thing I knew about him was that he was supposed to be a top 3 pick. I was cool with the pick. The Raps desperately needed a center.
I'm tired of people over rating Leonard, don't get me wrong he's a great player, but people are ranking as one of the best wings in the NBA. Leonard doesn't have a lot of skill, that system just makes him and his stats look good.

He is all-NBA defense.
Pop said last night they do not run ANY plays for him. That tells you he knows how to create opportunities off the ball and for himself. Pop also said not running plays will change next year.
I agree he is being a little overblown right now but if he is not one of the better wings in the NBA he is not far from it. He is 22! He'll be 23 on the 29th.

Basketball has clear winners every night --except at the draft, which is all homework, politics and chance.
Whatever, it turned out well for us.
I think in a redraft, he might crack top 3, depending on which teams are picking.
He would be there with Leonard, Irving, Walker and Thompson.
The name's Bond, James Bond.
I'm itching to see what Jonas will become. Can we just fast track his development by 4 seasons right now? If he were at his peak, this franchise would be in a completely different position. JV means more to the future of the Raps than any other player on the roster, by a landslide.
Note of the day: if I hear "over-exaggerate" come out of my car's radio during a drive-to-work morning show one more time, I will rip it out of the dashboard and throw it out the window.
