But..
Ray is now 39 years old. He ran out of gas during the long run the Heat went on and was like most Heatie's was invisible in the finals against the Spurs. He said he wanted to retire. He may have changed his mind but this is not a signing you take on in a league that values youth as much as length.
Maybe Lebron needs someone around him that he can go out to a restaurant with and not have to worry about making conversation. There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

In addition. With two potential lockdown defenders in Bron and Wiggins, Ray will almost never have to guard a dangerous scorer.

DanH wrote: View PostNo evidence of them not using the TPE. Remember, you don't "trade" a TPE - you just use it to absorb salary. Sometimes the other side develops a TPE as well, but it is a new one, not one you traded to them. So even if they used the TPE, they'd still have to send out something, such as the protected 2nd rounder.

Cleveland is probably James' best situation. He can sign for 2 years.. even if they don't win he'll get a chance to redeem himself after the decision debacle. The team doesn't have a center but after James is signed they probably have their full MLE to go after a player that can contribute. Gasol for example.

Among GM's, there's still belief LeBron James walks into Pat Riley meeting, lays out his 1-2 year max contract proposal and stays w/ Heat.

Here's concern for Cavs - and everyone else pursuing James. Everything's been filtered thru his agent, Rich Paul. No one's getting to James.

Just because the Heat didn't win last year doesn't make him suddenly useless. And just letting you know, Ray put up basically the exact same numbers in the playoffs as he did in the regular season.
