And they get a $7M TPE and draft rights to Oriakhi, whomever he is. WTF!?
Word is they didnt want to start him and he no longer wanted to be there. Seems like the best course of action to take.

( Oriakhi is the *insert nationality here* KD)

I've changed my mind. Isaiah Thomas 4/27 offer from the Suns and the Kings let him go. They are idiots.
7 Mil for someone who I consider to be better than Irving???? Can't believe the Kings let him go.. There are some real morons in some of those front offices in the rest of league..

I have no issues with them moving him, but don't you think they could have gotten more. Seems like a weak return, but I guess it was a S&T. Also, why couldn't PHX just offer him the same contract without completing a S&T? Anyone know? He was RFA but couldn't PHX just send that offer sheet and hope the Kings don't match? I don't get it.

I guess Phoenix just wanted certainty so they could plan their next moves. Besides, 3 days might be enough for the Kings to make the smart decision. If you can grab I.Thomas at less than 7 mil a year when even Marvin Williams gets 7 mil a year, it's better to get it done ASAP.

That Oriakhi prospect doesn't seem like an NBA prospect, he's 24 and he can't even stick on an Israeli team. So Phoenix basically gave up nothing. The Kings got only a trade exception.

Great vid.. thanks for sharing. I love these behind the scenes type of videos. This is probably why Sacramento is so bad. They get a group of fans basically to help them with their selection. And their owner (not GM) makes the final call.

I'm Indian, but lemme be honest here. Ranadive needs to go back to his french chateau and let the big boys handle the draft

Kind of scary how much of a voice he had at that table. It looked like things were led by the GM, but he had a big voice. Can he fire a GM if the GM lets him have that much input?

I don't know if they selected Stauskas because they need a successor to White Chocolate. They didn't need another shooter since they have a similar player in Maclemore. In a league that's dominated by backcourts, they have the worst backcourt and one that's awful at defense as well. They should have gone with Elfrid Payton or Noah Vonleh.

They're going back to the Josh Smith trade!

    http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11...ith-trade-talk

Sources say the Kings continue to give the addition of Smith serious consideration, largely because the discussions to date have not required them to part with any players in their long-term plans and would also add a versatile and athletic defender to a roster that badly needs one, given how much Kings coach Mike Malone is known to preach defense.

Kings owner Vivek Ranadive, furthermore, is known to be fond of splashy moves. And trading for Smith, given the lukewarm reviews of his first season with the Pistons, would certainly qualify as bold.
I might follow the Kings this season in a slow down and look at a car crash kind of way.

Watched a Cousins interview on Grantland the other night. You could tell that he wasn't happy about the Isiah Thomas trade to division rival Phoenix for basically nothing. Kinda had to agree. They should have matched that offer sheet...

    Congrats?

It occurs to me that if the Kings let Rudy go, kept Isaiah and gave Mclemore and Stauskas the wing positions this team could have developed in a couple years into a fast, intense team. But that won't happen. Is the legacy of Rudy Gay going to be that teams are better when he goes away?

In other good news, it looks like they got permission to build their arena.
