I just feel like that instead of trying to match up with other teams and going small ball, we should pick up a nicely sized backup C still, and make teams match up with us.

A 2nd Line of Okafor + 2Pat would be pretty good. Then again, if Bebe can do 80% of what Okafor does, at a fraction of the cost, tha'ts not so bad either.

And the reason they pass less against bad Ds is because it takes less passes to get a good shot against such Ds.

Exactly, it not about passing. This specifically hurts teams with poor interior defense like OKC and the Heat that gamble for steals but have good defense otherwise. Against zone defenses, passes like that isn't effective but you need interior defense.

So right now we've still got plenty of room to use the MLE, but it'll depend on how much our QO guys and Lowry get. I think we could reasonably retain all of Patterson, Vasquez, De Colo, and Lowry at around 24 million, bringing us up to 72.94. That should give us room to use $4 million of the full MLE without going into the tax, if we wanted to (anticipated tax around $77 million). We could go a little into the tax this year and use the full 5.3 million, but it probably wouldn't be worth it to burn a year.
