You don't remember Bobby Webster?
The Raptors announced on Wednesday that they have hired Bobby Webster to be the club’s new vice president, basketball management and strategy. Webster has worked in the league’s office for the last seven seasons, most recently as the associate director of salary cap management. In a statement, the Raptors said Webster will provide the team his salary cap expertise, as well as advising on scouting and player personnel.
http://sports.nationalpost.com/2013/...ffice-changes/Webster brings with him a vast working knowledge of the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). He was part of the NBA league office team that worked with the NBA Labor Relations Committee to negotiate the most recent CBA with the National Basketball Players Association.
While at the NBA, Webster advised front office personnel from all 30 teams on CBA matters related to salary cap and luxury tax planning, player contract negotiations and trade proposals. He also played a lead role in the NBA league office’s player contract analytics efforts.
In his role with the Raptors, Webster will provide his CBA expertise and take on expanded duties that include scouting, player personnel and roster management.
This team has direction on many levels - all things CBA related included.
Lots of reporters and bloggers trying to be capologists when the Raptors have the best in the business.
My advice, crunch your numbers but:
Watch it unfold.
Enjoy the ride.
