All right, I had to look it up. He's won it once in each of the past 3 seasons which is pretty good considering there are only 6 opportunities to win it each season. I know, not a big deal to most, but I think it's a great sign of his consistent approach.
    Very impressive.

Down 1 with under 10 seconds to go in a game 7, he draws up a play on the wrong side of the court. Impressive indeed.

Someone posted this over on the NBA Reddit page, thought it was interesting. It's looking at points per play after timeouts, ie out of timeout plays.

I'm surprised how low the average after timeout play is.

Defence has a chance to get organized! I'm a big fan of not calling timeouts in crunch time - letting your players use their instincts.

If Brad Stevens was our coach are we still any better than 2nd seed in the East or favoured to come out of the East? I can't imagine it, but who knows?

Other than wearing the Mavs championship ring at the season ending press conference last season, definitely. Might be nit-picking, but publicly accepting criticism/blame has never been a Casey strong suit. Bad times do reveal character, though, since it's easier to be classy when things are going well - although even then we do see Casey's arrogance/defiance rear it's ugly head from time to time.

But overall, yeah - Casey, Triano and Lenny Wilkens were coaches who presented themselves well for the organization.
Cautious optimism is what they're preaching north of the border, where the locals haven't forgotten how last season's Raptors bolted to a 15-4 start, which meant absolutely zilch come playoff time.

Now THERE is an interesting idea - wonder what the defensive numbers would look like, defending out of time-outs. That's one area that I've been really impressed with Dwane - the Raptors' ability to force second timeouts and 5 second calls on in-bounds after timeouts has been pretty tremendous, with the highlight being the second to last play of the BKN series.

Adam Silver really needs to dramatically reduce end of game timeouts available to coaches. Casual fans hate the flow of the final minutes of close games. We might actually see better basketball. We'd definitely get to see the players decide games instead of coaches. Having a competent point guard would be even more valuable.

I doubt we are better than 2nd as you can't really go much higher

We would be playing better basketball though. And our playoff chances would look better. I dont see us getting past the second round, and barely out of the first
