I get what you're saying man, but size/physical talent alone is not enough to simply earn someone 12M dollars. Again, I'm sure he would've had offers...I'm very skeptical that he'd have gotten such a big deal.
*It was a gamble on talent, much like BC did with DeMar's extension...but it was a swing and a big fat miss, because the mental aspect was just brushed aside too nonchalantly.Last edited by white men can't jump; Sun Jan 25, 2015, 04:34 PM.

Whiteside has changed this Heat team. If Wade is healthy come playoff time, they're going to be dangerous.
And the Wade comment is just Miami's reality at this point. They're a mediocre team when he sits, and a good-but-not-great team when he plays. Even with Whiteside, their bench and PG play is highly suspect, so they really do need Wade and all their main guys healthy to have any chance of making noise.

white men can't jump wrote: View PostIt's kind of funny too, because it seems like teams are not really preparing for his presence. When he's out there, you can't try and exploit what has been Miami's weakness for the last 4 seasons in terms of lack of an interior defender/shotblocker. They're going right at him and he's just blocking everything.

TRex wrote: View PostWho do you think makes the AS team for them? Wade or Bosh?
If I had to choose, I'd probably choose Bosh....But neither guy on his own can carry this team very far. They need both healthy. And they really need Bosh's shooting and versatility this season, as they don't have good shooters or lots of skill in the frontcourt. Without him they'd probably be real easy to game plan against because you'd just have to try and deny penetration.

Curry was given money by the Knicks...nuff said. Not exactly the precedent you want to follow. (Oh and still was under 10M per year)Last edited by white men can't jump; Sun Jan 25, 2015, 04:54 PM.

raptors999 wrote: View PostBogut is never healthy. He just plays between injuries. Varejao is still getting paid ridiculous money. Most bad contracts are to bigs either because bof injuries or because "bigs take time to develop" which means they aren't finished when they get extended. Demarcus was a gamble and Bucks lost the gamble on Sanders.

white men can't jump wrote: View PostBogut did not have big injury concerns early in his career. He missed a fair chunk of games to a sprained foot...then didn't have another major injury until the freak fall on his arm. It's only the last 3+ seasons that it's started to look more like chronic injury issues....starting with an ankle fracture (a freak thing again). And none of them are related to anything that happened earlier in his career. This isn't a Danny Granger or Brandon Roy that had obvious red flags because of knee issues. He's mostly just had bad luck.

Hasan Whiteside
Do I have to say more ! Today he just got a triple double and only played about 25 min. He had 14 points, 13 rebounds and 12 blocks !!! We the raptors had him at the summer league and instead of keeping him who actually did fairly well in the summer league we keep Steamer who just keeps the bench warm for the players who are on the court ! I say we made a big mistake as Whiteside could have been our back up center that we are looking for ! Our coaching staff really let one go through their finger tips. Whiteside is doing a great job for the Miami Heat !! Could have been doing a great job for the Toronto Raptors !! Just a thought since we really need a shot blocking back up center !!

He didn't start having worse issues til after he got traded. When he fractured his ankle (broken feet are always a big problem for big men), that's when injuries started rolling into each other.
