Yup, Jermain O'Neal and Okafor are both injury risks. For the money, vet min, Kwame is a good option. Aaron Gray makes more than the vet min on a 2 yr deal.

I'd rather a guy who misses games because of injury than because of DNP-CDs.

76ers DNP-CD aren't NBA DNP-CD. Its just an idea, he probably extremely cheap and can defend the low post. Its worth a training camp invite at least to see if he even cares

What the hell does that mean? He was on a Sixers team trying to make the playoffs. He couldn't get minutes over Lavoy Allen, a fully mediocre NBA big who is a 3rd stringer at best. He didn't play because he sucks. He just sucks. There's nothing to like about his game at all.

*And yes, the next year he was on a tankfest...but he's so bad they didn't even want to give him minutes on that team. There was no point in investing those minutes in him. It wasn't that playing him would've won them too many games. It's that playing him would've been a waste of minutes they could give to anyone else at all.

I just can't think of a single reason it would be worth it to sign Kwame Brown. The fact that he'd take the minimum is not a good enough reason. Shit, I'd rather go after 41 year old Kurt Thomas. He could be 50 and on his worst day still be a better option than Kwame. Don't think he ever formally retired.

Well, because he's a true 3rd stringer. Those guys are guys teams don't rush to sign. It's the "we dont' have enough bodies so we should pick this guy up" type signing.

For the Raps, that only makes sense if they send Bebe back overseas. Otherwise there's little reason to add any big at all.

JV-Amir-2Pats-Bebe with both Hands and Hayes being very limited. Most of our Wing-Guards can play 3-2 or 2-1. Hands and Hayes aren't great at the 4 or 5.

But Kwame Brown is? Hansbrough is a capable backup in this league. Is he limited? Sure. He also has very obvious strengths and a fairly high bball IQ. Hayes' bball IQ is the highest among all our bigs, making him a valuable mentor and a surprisingly capable depth C.

We have a need to upgrade the 2nd string C position. Hayes is a great 3rd stringer. The problem now is we don't have anyone capable behind Jonas. Bebe is a project, but has the ideal skill set to back up JV if he pans out. It's unsure if he could contribute this year and doesn't seem likely. Still I'd rather try and develop him to hopefully be able to back up JV by the end of the year than sign a useless 3rd stringer...again, Hayes is good enough for that.

PF spot is totally secure. Amir, Pat and Hansbrough are all capable and all bring different things to the table. JJ can play it too depending on matchups.

Quincy Acy does not have an option in his deal. His deal is unguaranteed. As long as he sticks on the team, he gets paid. Just like Amir here (although's Amir's is partially guaranteed). For both players, there is no mechanism for "picking up" the option except for just not cutting them.
