Virus need live host to reproduce. Its counterproductive for Ebola to become highly contagious.
Counterproductive to be highly fatal, not counterproductive to be highly contagious.

Edit: Quicker the death, more counterproductive for the virus.
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

    • Yay... hospital which is ~30 miles away from where I live, confirmed that docs are treating a woman who is suspected of having Ebola.

Where can I get bio-hazard suit?

      • I don't think you need to start kicking it in the hazmat suit just yet.

Marrying Kim Kardashian, or dying of Ebola.

The question is, which one is worse?

            • Good News on Ebola...well sort of

Haha...relaxing workers at an Ebola treatment centre built by the US and foreign aid. What a difference from the dire predictions of just a few months ago. The threat seems to be now minimal but as usually the case construction of new treatment centres continue when current functional ones are empty because there are no/not enough patients.

Great kudos to those medical responders who risked going to Africa and political leadership making the commitments.

              • Bravo! Money spent well.

There has been a "turning point" in the Ebola crisis, with cases falling in the three affected countries, World Health Organization officials say.

Just eight cases were detected in Liberia in the last week down from a peak of 500-a-week in September. Guinea and Sierra Leone have also seen falls.

All are now showing falls in weekly cases:

Cases in Liberia stand at eight-per-week down from a peak of 509
Cases in Guinea stand at 20 per week down from a peak of 292
Cases in Sierra Leone stand at 117-per-week down from a peak of 748

Maybe the investment will help in future cases? The Ebola virus transmitted far easier than past strains and this should be a cautionary tale of what may come in the future.

Perhaps the experts with the dire predictions were heard? They suggested if things did not change, if the support did not increase and if greater precautions were not taken then this crisis would see frightening exponential growth. The world woke up and did more however. So while their prediction did not play out, perhaps it served as a very valuable containment tool.

Perhaps....nothing wrong with opposition to a policy or oversight...but when hysteria and faux hysteria motivated by irrational political biases are injected into what is relatively new, serious and of great public health concern both here and the rest of the world ...without giving the opportunity to very serious and committed people (eg. CDC) to do their job, this is self defeating on many levels.

                      • World is sad. Terrorists are getting more media attention than Ebola heroes nurses and doctors.

                            • Meanwhile, 50,000 more murdered over there, and likely a few thousand dead from AIDS here.

But yeah, lets all talk about Ebola while we pass bullshit in congress and on parliament hill

Pretty high probability that she has it. Fortunately there are a lot more people who could donate antibodies to help her fight this now than six months ago.
