I have zero issues with his development curve on the defensive side so far. The stats will come as he becomes stronger and more consistent. This is only his second year.
As a general rule of thumb, a rookie contract length is a reasonable grace period for a players development. Seeing as Ross is only in his second year, his rotations and on-ball defense are very good.
