If I want a wing to play rare minutes, get lost defensively, and shoot threes, I'd rather see Bruno do that than bring Hamilton along for the ride.

On the flip side, which I think is more in line with MU's approach, is that signing a 15th man is essentially acquiring another asset for nothing. Having an extra throw-in, especially if he's a good role player and/or on an expiring/non-guaranteed contract, could be useful for balancing salary in a future trade. Players can always be waived after a trade, so the extra roster spot isn't really that necessary.
