He's played really, really well. But, outside of playing as a designated stopper I don't see Fields working as an option at starting SF. He has even less shooting than JJ, which is the reason I can't see JJ working in that spot long term. Any SF with a brain will help off Fields to clog the lane, and the the Raps' entire offense is built around lane penetration. It's working tonight because none of the Cavs bigs offer any semblance of rim protection and apparently Lebron left his brain in Brooklyn.
It works for Memphis with Tony Allen

Yeah. Sometimes Lowry throws these tricky passes at JV's knees. It's like he's skipping stones.
fair enuf. Ya, that's a terrible place to put it. Especially fast. And Val's mitts aren't that great. Tho tonight he looks amazing.

Rebounds 17 14 Cavs. This needs to change if were to win this game.
It's hard for our bigs to both protect the rim against guard penetration and rebound. I don't mind the defense tonight. I'd rather risk Varejao and Tristain getting a few boards than allow Kyrie and Lebron access to the rim.

I'm expecting to see the Cavs leave Landry more often to double-team the ball. Fields has to get himself closer to the basket & make his dunks/lay ups when he's open.
That's the problem with playing the Landry card. Smart teams should be able to adjust pretty quickly.

Memphis has a post oriented offense and besides both Z-Bo and Gasol can shoot from 15-20 feet. Neither JV nor Amir command any respect from range, hence the need for shooting from the wing positions.

                            • Come on Ross.

Also it's Lebron winning time. He's going to get all kind of calls/non-calls.
